Funny thing about people who dont speak english as a main language.

Most of the time when I read posts from people who say they dont primarily speak english, the speak it better then most others I see who only speak english and even use better grammar then me. Then they say "sorry for my english". I find that quite interesting.

That might be because we actually need to pass English in our schools. Well, my school was strict on every subject. So we have to get atleast a C+ to be proud. Then, after middle, everyone forgets but those who continued to study for fun(and reasons for future). This is why i like forums, especially here..there so many odd terms used in gaming/internet world. xD not only does typing help me, i actually learn odd/weird stuff:
Like "teh internetz", "dawg", "derpy derp", etc
totally goes against everything i learn. i know those are just silly vocab it is seen often and i did not understand why.
I find the English language easy. Maybe i need a challenge. xD
but i hope i explained my belief/theory. ^_^
(plus i think its anyying tht sum people type like dis..i want to be understood. for exception like "lol', "omg", etc.)

I'm a Chinese Canadian, and I frequently go...what at some of the stuff that other people write in English.

I tend to write like I think - and it takes time to translate Chinese to English sometimes. However, I'm better at writing it than speaking it!

Yeah my friend isn't a native English speaker, yet her spelling and grammar trumps a very large portion of North American internet goers.
Hell, she typos less than I do.

I keep trying to think of a way to slightly justify it, some sort of analogy. I can't. I don't even know why I was trying in the first place.

That pretty much explains it.

Yeah, I just find it really funny, I didnt know you guys in other countries (well I knew some asian countries were like this) were so hard pressed to learn english. Especially seeing how its not exactly as widely a used language as people would have you think (although I do think its the second or first most written language in the world)

Here in Finland, English (and Swedish) exams focus on grammar and spelling, and every error costs you points. Whereas Finnish exams focus on your ability to write essays, you showing your maturity and ability to analyze the texts you're given, and small typos and grammar errors are forgiven. Maybe that has something to do with it?

In my country people are also needed to have good basics in the English language, mainly grammar. Although I was forced to learn English by my family when I was four and then sent to live in Africa for a year to improve my accent. xP

It is pretty ironic though that so many Americans write like retards, I mean, most of the Brits that I know are more careful with how they write than the Americans that I also know... If I wrote something in my mother language that was full of typos and a crappy grammar, I'd feel ashamed of myself. >.<"

In US, even High school exams (or at least 9th grade) dont grade spelling errors or grammatical issues. thats probably why most of use write so bad >_>

Cuz they definitely mark down grammar and even the smallest typos where I go.

USA has really bad education. People from England don't have any issues typing correctly.
I learned my english by playing games mostly. School didn't taught me much especially high school where my english teacher barely did anything.
Then again, it's so easy to learn it on your own since it's the easiest language in the world (no, not joking).
