A different type of Switch rant (PART 1)

Now I don't hate the Switch, but I just wish Nintendo did more with it
Software
Now the Wii and Wii U's interface was pure amazing. Everything was easy, it had some nice start page music. Some nice kinks like WiiConnect 24 services
However, the switch's interface is dull, no music even, no extra fun stuff to do.
Even the 3DS had a better interface which is really embarrassing since the 3DS CAME OUT IN 2011 (Also the Wii came out in 2006)
Why can't Nintendo make the interface at least have music.
Hardware
Joycon Drift, yeah, that. I won't discuss that much since everyone knows about it
However, lets just point some details on it
Here's an example

Users have to use the drifting joystick instead of motion controls for SM GALAXY
Why?!
Where is the IR SENSOR for the joycons?
They don't exist
Wii U Ports
Now I don't mind the Wii U ports (Yes I had a Wii U)
At least at first
Sure port a couple like Mario Kart and Pokken Tournament
But why everything?
Most Wii U exclusives that don't rely on gamepads are on the switch, feels like I wasted money.
I think we deserve new
titles

Yeah I did too, I mean 12 million wii u owners compared to 80 million switch owners.. they're new games lol

But that's the problem
It's also 13.5 million not 12
But either way
assuming 12 million Wii U users bought the switch they'd be upset.
I wasn't at first cause people should get an experience
But when EVERYTHING IS PORTED
There's an issue

The Wii U ports instead of sequels, prequels, and new games... are slap in the face to everyone that already bought a Wii U with those games. I don't give a fuck if the console had poor sales, don't fuck over consumers like this. At least bring NEW titles to the foreground while releasing the old crap. (Still waiting for a proper Mario Kart 9, New Super Mario 3D World 2, etc, etc...)

And no individual VC games to buy? RetroArch definitely deserves to murder the Switch in that category.

The 3DS also had SpotPass, a free mini RPG to play, and optional buy-in minigames... Switch doesn't have jack shit built-in. Hardly makes it worth lugging around if you wanna be social with it.

Minimalism is modern. I personally think the Switch OS is a bit bland and boring but it's easy and quick to navigate and find what you need, in the end it's just a launcher for your games, and I'd rather get into the game quickly than have a bloated OS that takes 30+ seconds to load the Wii U menu before I can launch a game but has a couple extra gimmicky features.

I don't really understand what you mean by "A different type of Switch rant," these seem like common complaints (specifically minimalistic OS/Joy-Con drift/Wii U ports)

The only thing the switch needs is
*drumroll*

games.

The GBA was a beast. DS was nice.

Switch ? Uhhhhhhh.
I hope this gets better soon.
Otherwisw I'll play Apex on it till a successor releases and thats that.

Not "everything" has been ported over yet; for some reason, Nintendo hasn't given their uber-popular console two of the three best 3D Zeldas yet, in Twilight Princess HD and The Wind Waker HD (the third being Majora's Mask 3D + fan restoration patch). Xenoblade Chronicles X also isn't on the Switch, and neither is Yoshi's Woolly World.

As for GUI...I never did like the Wii or Wii U ones. The 3DS one is utterly brilliant; different levels of zoom, all the way from one line of icons with game details above, to a full screen of identically-sized boxes that just looks so perfect, since a large number of games are immediately accessible and they're all perfect squares - none of that rounded-rectangle nonsense (or, to dump on the Xbox and Windows 8 and 10 "Live Tiles", a random mish-mash of differently-sized boxes that just looks ugly as fuck and totally ruins visual appeal).

The vanilla (i.e. unmodded) Switch GUI only has one line of games, with like four-and-a-fifth icons visible outside of the "show all games" screen, but I still like this more than the Wii and Wii U menus since the latter two aren't goddamn squares.

Also,

Why?!
Fuck pointer-based motion. Analog better.
Gyro's great in small doses (e.g. helping with aiming a bow), since that assists with analog aiming - pointer-based motion replaces it with something far more infuriating.

didn't a fix for joycon drift come out? I don't think that's a problem anymore...
