@CIJC: check your .iso's and check if their are not patched to PAL

@WiiCrazy: Well I was wondering if Starfall works on out of region games for ModChip users, and....well....if modchip users use GeckOS for their out of region games, then I think is not that hard to use too (or any launcher), right..??

ps. you do have a ModChip, can you confirm Starfall does works using out of region games..??

they are definately not patched to pal... rock band 2 doesn't even open in RegionFrii.

i dont see the point in preloader patches.... when starfall does the same thing.

if there are any cool new 'preloader only' patches, i might just install it.

im assuming , that i will also be able to remove the sd card when this is all installed ? so there is no way they can access the HBC and the damage they could cause with that ? and in essence leave it looking like a stock wii again ?

also i can totally understand the reasoning to dumping the nand to sd for backup / restoring ! but isnt it nuked by simply updating like ether has mentioned ? or installing a system wad ? like i said im a noob that does read and i feel i just need more clarification here !.........cheers

Yes you can use the Wii with CIOScorp and the burned games, but only patched to, or same region, as your Wii.
Yes the update thru Wii Settings will left your Wii with the original IOS, if you install a SysMenu.wad the CIOScorp package still be there but the preloader will be gone.
Yes if you take out the SD they can't access to the aplications in it, but they still can access to the HBC and send .dol's thru Wi-Fi (but I doubt they know how to do it

cheers for the quick reply ......... appreciated !

Well mine doesn't work preloader installed or not, so maybe is just a PAL systems only...!!!

Thats what i'm thinking ether that maybe the pal starfall patches are the only ones that may actually work.. although you'd think if they did we would have had alot more than 1 or 2 people claim to have it working by now....

could the reason NTSC are working on PAL, more than PAL on NTSC is because of the refresh rate
a lot of PAL tvs seems to be able to handle 50hz or 60hz
but almost all NTSC tvs only do 60hz

sorry if im way off base here, as ive yet to even try a PAL game to see what happens.

btw great work on all this so far

Unfortunately no as this has no effect on the wii reading the discs. That only applies to loading through the backup channel.

Appreciate the tips Wiicrazy... Still looks like we're flying in circles now with this particular problem..
I think I've tried almost everything... maybe when Crediar does his next update since he has his Wii working again he'll throw us something else to chew on...I wouldn't rely on him to do that though... or I would imagine he could be getting involved on this thread himself... maybe he secretly does.. none of my business, but as for now... I am just going to have to humble myself with this being what it is. Nearly perfect... stop being greedy.... and just accept it.

OK, so I know this is a bit off topic, but in a way it isn't seeing that this thread is where the Wii Stuntmen were given birth. Anyways... IronMask and I have made the "Wii Stuntmen" group in Rock Band 2 and we want band members who are actual Wii Stuntmen! That is why posting this here. Anyone interested please PM IronMask or myself to exchange codes. No noobs please, only certified Wii Stuntmen need apply. You know who you are.

Slightly back on Topic. With current state of Loaders/CIOSCORP/Menu Patchers/Starfall/Preloader etc.... I can play any of my 200 games with two clicks of the A button, so I'm in absolutely no hurry to have out of region games show up in my Disc Channel. I started Region Patching all my new burns to NTSC anyways so they show up and play just like originals too. besides, most of my PAL stuff is Old Decrypted discs which will never show up anyways. I'm guessing. Will still be awesome when full region free is finally implemented though.

Well I don't want to force anyone NTSC-U to change the region towards PAL, just to confirm if starfall can do the out of region job only with CIOScorp installed, but I really think that IronMask is the indicate............

I'm leaning more towards the "download an ISO from the net that says it is x when its really y" or "i wanna be special" options... no offense to those few who claim this miracle of not so modern technology

yes. since your not loading from a backup loader the saves are identical to original disc saves, since as far as the wii knows they are originals being played

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
