Hacking semi bricked vwii

Hey , I have stupidly managed to semi brick my wii. I have been trying to fix it for 2 days and I have had no luck. Has anyone got any ideas? thx

I originally modded the wii-u over a year ago, I decided to check out nintendont and some emulators about a week ago and everything was running sweet. I was trying to get rom covers on wiiflow and I was following this tutorial . http://gbatemp.net/threads/wiiflow-4-the-masterpiece-pack-by-abz.336543/

Then I very stupidly install these wad files while I was playing around with it.

After I booted it back up, I went into HBC, hit start and it didn't load. Next mistake I made was I uninstalled HBC and tried to re-install it. On re-installation, when it gives you the screen that says "You should never pay for this software" it freezes and the "push 2 button" thing never appear. Lucky, I do have a wiiflow forwarder still installed. The vwii is now running on IOS36

So far I have manged to get 'homebrew launcher' and MMM working through bathaxx. Then through howebrew launcher I've got wii Mod lite running. I have been looking at this thread http://gbatemp.net/threads/vwii-semi-bricked.353595/ and I found a IOS58 installer channel. I attempted to install the channel using wii mod lite and MMM but neither of them could read my sd card or USB device (I have tried loads of variations of this). The only thing that has been able to see my SD card is the wad installer built into homebrew launcher but that will not let me select slot 49.

Thats pretty much where I am now

much better. Okay, a couple of things:

(I've skimmed it but to be honest there are a couple of issues)
1. you probably should never follow a guide that hasn't been updated (Oct 29, 2012) and was edited before the WiiU was released
("This is outdated info " is kinda a clue. If it were outdated 2 years ago, what is it now?)

2. I can somewhat understand your confusion because it appears someone did edited it with WiiU info but failed to mention that IOS58-64-v6176.wad is a Wii version IOS and NOT a WiiU IOS and Wii IOS should NEVER be installed on vWii/WiiU(but you have to take some responsibility on that one because you need to understand what you are putting on your system. If unsure, ask questions first ("Is it ok ...."?).

Next: Do you have 1 or more NAND backups of your vWii ?

next I'm assuming you meant 249 when you said "will not let me select slot 49."

I don't have a NAND backup. I had one saved on my removable HDD but it got damaged and everything was lost. I just ran syscheck and it stopped responding on ios223. The guide said that if it stops responding it means it's corrupted.

not having the backup is not a very big problem.
I think your bigger problem here is that you replaced all vWii cIOS with Wii cIOS.
The Wii IOS are not working on vWii and you won't be able to use them.

cIOS was required to get SD/USB, and NAND access to be able to install the channel.
without a patched IOS, I don't know if you can do anything

WiiU, no side effect.
vWii, it will affect games using IOS58 to get USB 2.0 access (Wiispeak, microphone, etc.)

Hey I might not of installed them all. I'm looking at IOS manager in wii mod. 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, 16, 20, 30, 40, 50, 51, 52, 60, 61, 70, 254 is in white (untouched). 58 is in blue (clean) and the rest are green. Does this give me any hope? I'm trying to upload a pic but it won't let me

I just went through and here's whats installed. What I suspected is on the left and whats is actually installed is on the right. Is that all of them screwed? I think I'm out of luck but could you have a quick look?

they are all Wii version, so they won't work on vWii.
Wii mod is probably recognizing the IOS based on it's detection method for Wii. I don't know if there's a vWii version to tell if you have a clean vWii IOS.

Maybe someone will give ideas.

You said you ran syscheck but it froze.
Could you post the syscheck report, even if incomplete? (or is the report generated at the end only?)

Just wait a little while to see if things sort themselves out (because of new update). Do NOT take the update unless explicitly instructed to do so.

ok on the USA side (as far as the vWii updates go). It doesn't look promising only two titles/ios's appear to be added or changed. Neither seem promising.

Maybe missing IOS on vWii will be re-downloaded when the WiiU triggers the update.
I've read another user did it (in the previous thread, where we were helping the other user).

I can't guarantee it, as I never did it nor don't understand how vWii is updated on WiiU update.
If you are willing to try, and if you manage to delete IOS on vWii (you might require AHB access to do that), it's worth a try. your current IOS are not working anyway.

before deleting them, let's get sure it's ok by asking other users

Sweet, Hope has been restored!!!!! So shall I try to delete IOS 245 - 252? Will deleting the IOS have any more negative effects? Is the update available now? I know your going to hate me for this but I did not disable auto update so how I do I check that it has not already run? Will factory reset delete the current update if I have already ran it?

or is it just a matter of time before you auto-update?
Can you use your vWii normally (without homebrew) and it works ok?
