Regarding Nintendo Switch
As soon as a proper web browser becomes available I'll try and port to it

Also Hype for the Pokemon Switch tease~ Also yes I plan to add Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon Formes/Pokemon Whatever they add I'll add to the dex

This would be really neat as it's own offline .CIA, and you'd only have to update the pokemon data every major pokemon release. That would make for a truly portable pokedex, no wi-fi required.

Jesus Christ, that's a lot of money
It's New Zealand, so it's expensive of course.

I might try something in the holidays unsure, Although I really like the Web Deployment as it allows me to make quick updates without having to have everyone update their clients, It all just updates and works seemlessly across all platforms
I might try something with cookies for better loading though

So the results are in and it seems that Capture Locations will be the big major feature for the next big update
I have a few questions I would like everyones opinion on! :)
For the region maps I'd like to have them all look similar so that it doesn't look like I'd just copy and pasted the maps
I could stylize them based on the different graphical styles so I could have them all be in the 8-bit style of the Red and Blue Regional Map
Down below are all the graphical styles I could potentially draw each regional map in (For the BW style it wouldn't have the details background but I'd come up with something)

120px-Kanto_Town_Map_GSC.png
120px-KantoTownMap.png
120px-Kanto.png
250px-Unova_2.png
250px-Kalos_Pok%C3%A9dex_map.png

Quote this post and just let me know!
Alternatively you can vote on this Poll http://www.strawpoll.me/13218717 I'll be taking votes from that as well as votes in the form of replies to this into consideration!

We've yet to reach a definitive result yet However I'd just like to put out a small roadmap for future features planned down the road
All the features that were in the poll the other day will be done at some point so don't worry about that

  • Capture Locations (This is next)
  • Damage Calculator
  • Switch Browser Port
  • Learnlists for Pokemon
  • Themes? (I'm not sure how possible this is but I want to give it a go)
  • All the new formes/pokemon that will be in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon
  • QR Code Generation for QR Scan Injection potentially? (Although it wouldn't really be purposeful since then you'd need a second 3DS to scan it with)
  • And any other features that are requested by popular demand

Would it be easier for you guys to help me decide if I did some mock ups of the region maps in the different styles?

The results are in and the 16-bit Style wins with 40% of votes, Starting tomorrow I'll begin drawing up the map styles and be posting images on my twitter

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

    but that's a long shot
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i think only the red mario kart edition phat was v5
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
