Reggie Fils-Aime claims that Nintendo will have a "big" E3 this year

KmDyD4j.png

In a video interview with Fox News, Nintendo of America's CEO, Reggie Fils-Aime spoke about how Nintendo is innovating the game market, with the Switch, and recently released Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. "I think anyone who says they know where this industry is going is really not knowledgeable about the industry, given that at its heart, it's all about innovation and creativity," said Fils-Aime. At the end of the video, Reggie claims that Nintendo will "have a big E3 this year." and that they will be "showcasing a variety of games, as well as having surprises planned" for the event. Lastly, he says that E3 will be a major opportunity to show what Nintendo has in store for not only the Switch, but for the 3DS as well.

Normally I'd be excited as hell for E3, but the game I waited 5 years for just came out so... I got nothing.
I guess I'd really like:
Virtual Console (but please don't just start off with NES games again. Give us a variety)
TPHD and WWHD ports
A new Metroid (I don't play it, but y'all deserve a new game)
More info on Fire Emblem Warriors and maybe next year's Fire Emblem game?

At this point, I'm mostly just hoping to be surprised.

How is it an error? Breath of the Wild and maybe Switch too were successful despite their non-attendance. Those were the main things that needed to sell.
To me, it seems like it was a good decision not to attend, and I don't know why they're reversing.

A good reason would be that they want to connect with developers and publishers, as that is the real reason for E3. It's not supposed to be about connecting with customers.
...while their sales of everything else dropped significantly, specifically the Wii U, long before the Switch has even existed. The reason why it's selling is the fact that it's new.

And decent marketing this time around. People actually know what Switch is even if they don't own one.

It's kind of funny that I have to justify a lack of promotion in the form of no E3 attendance as an error when the Switch's immediate predecessor bombed in no small part due to poor marketing.

I'm just surprised Nintnedo is taking E3 seriously. When was the last time they actually cared about E3? They operated on their own schedule with Directs and that is preferable than putting on a show for E3.

You're joking, right? I still have to specify the Wii U is not the Wii with family and friends. My niece doesn't understand why she can't play Mario Kart 8 because we have a WII.

The Wii U was a marketing disaster. People still think the Wii U is the fucking controller. Forget the fact it's library is worse than the N64's, people don't even know it exists.

Nintendo knows this year's E3 is going to make or break the Switch's momentum in hardware sales since the Scorpio is due for release at the end of this year (Microsoft is big in the west) and Sony already has a firm grasp in the market share for both the west and the east.
Xbox One?

Playstation 4 is dominating the console market. The Playstation 4 has sold 53 million units whereas the Xbox One is 26 million as of Jan 2017.

I think Sony has a little more than a "firm grasp". That shit is atomically infused.

Xbox is more western and the PlayStation is more known in Japan in comparing is it not?

LOL...dominating and firm grasp is all one word my friend.

You have to remember if the Scorpio has good "exclusive games" and is as powerful as Microsoft claims it to be, it will grab a whole lot of intention to gamers in the "west" and the word west does not only mean the North America; we're talking Europe too jump starting a comeback for Microsoft to get back into the console race.

It would only take two years of the Scorpio doubling hardware sales for Microsoft to pretty catch catch up to Sony, this gens console wars is far from over; there's still up to 8 years of hardware sales left before next gen starts.

Their innovation of making a gaming tablet and basing one of their latest from a franchise on gameplay from already popular games?... right lol.

I swear, the whole time I played botw I was like, "that's from skyrim", "yup, that's assassin's creed", "here's link's farcry adventure".

Reggie is the Steve Jobs of video games.

I wonder if this renewed E3 interest from Nintendo is a result of them opening it to the public for the first time, instead of the usual audience being press members. Sinnoh confirmed, fuck Pokemon Stars, that is a rumor.

of course he says that, its a PR response.

All nintendo's E3's since the wiiu have been an absolute disaster, we only got to see the shame shit over and over and this one will be no diferent, mark my words we wiill get just more info on titles already revealed like fire emble, splatoon 2 and mario odissey if we get a single exclusive game that isnt announced yet i will be happy, but i doubt it tbh, i think nintendo released all their upcoming games info to promote the switch.

They'd better - if the Switch doesn't get a solid line-up, it's as good as dead. Mine's gathering dust already.

yes agreed and i think they'll have to announce a price drop as well. because rumors are suggesting a price drop on ps4/xbox1 incoming.

if true why would a consumer dictating between ps4, xbox1 and switch even consider switch when it's more expensive then the other 2. not to mention other 2 have superior game library currently.

nintendo really needs to be super aggressive with switch so it doesn't fail.
