Former President and COO of Nintendo Reggie Fils-Aime has just revealed the final publish date and cover of his upcoming memoir, Disrupting the Game: From the Bronx to the Top of Nintendo. Originally set to release May 24 but now releasing on May 3, the book will chronicle his rise to the top of Nintendo and give his tips on how to be successful in life. You can read the full blurb below:

Gaming legend and boss level disruptor Reggie Fils-Aimé, retired President and Chief Operating Officer of Nintendo of America Inc., shares leadership lessons and inspiring stories from his unlikely rise to the top. He mastered these lessons to build a long and storied career, and you too can leverage these lessons to springboard your own ultimate success and happiness.

Although he’s best known as Nintendo's iconic President of the Americas—immortalized for opening Nintendo’s 2004 E3 presentation with, “My name is Reggie, I'm about kicking ass, I'm about taking names, and we're about making games”—Reggie Fils-Aimé’s story is the ultimate gameplan for anyone looking to beat the odds and achieve success.

Learn from Reggie how to leverage disruptive thinking to pinpoint the life choices that will make you truly happy, conquer negative perceptions from those who underestimate or outright dismiss you, and master the grit, perseverance, and resilience it takes to dominate in the business world and to reach your professional dreams.

As close to sitting one-on-one with the gaming legend as it gets, you will learn:
-About the challenges Reggie faced throughout his life and career—from his humble childhood as the son of Haitian immigrants, to becoming one of the most powerful names in the history of the gaming industry.
-What it takes to reach the top of your own industry, including being brave enough to stand up for your ideas, while also being open to alternative paths to success.
-How to create vibrant and believable visions for your team and company.
-How to maintain relentless curiosity and know when to ask questions to shatter the status quo.

Could be a nice read, but I'm tired of that feelgood spiel (you too can leverage these lessons to springboard your own ultimate success and happiness.)
exactly! is like "a good amount of luck, for being at right place, at right time" didn't have anything to do with the success too lol.

I think it's the picture and memoir looking similar to memorial that makes people think he died for a moment (me too).
Yeah, at this point point I've basically been conditioned to anticipate death whenever headshot photos start appearing in newsfeeds. At least it's not b&w, like how those film industry folks tend to promote their (very much living) film people doing stuff. It probably used to be classy, but unless is extravagantly posed, in 2022 a b&w photo is code for an obituary.

/rant, I guess.

Oh, my body still isn't ready to read a generic (ex-)CEO memoir.

To those mocking his name
Fils-Aimé is the kind of name you'll often hear with Haitian
Those are french word, meaning ''Loved Son''
There sometime are the same thing with first names, like Trésor (Treasure) and such names

Haha, about selling snake oil!
My man is telling his story, but it isn't anything special.
He wasn't a poor kid.
He went to college.
He made the best of his education, having jobs related to management.
He went to Nintendo, and progressed through the ranks, always taking lead positions, while the company was actively pushing in American soil.

Read the Wikipedia page. I don't think there will be much in terms of worthwile advice in the book.

Never liked him.

same here. but, to be honest, i never liked nintendo (as a corporate) in general (yet I AM fan of some of their ips, like (in this order) zelda, metroid and mario.

well, i think this guy in particular is overated (and some of his comments back when he was with nintendo are cringe) , but yeah... i respect the opinion of who likes him and all.

That set off my self help guru and business wonk alarms at the same time.
Thanks to Reggie, we almost didn't get Xenoblade Chronicles on Wii in the US.
So in the end he couldn't even block a boring game from appearing...

I always saw this guy as a talking head for Nintendo. No personality. I'm surprised he's written a book because I can only imagine his inner monologue being a humming microwave noise.
(He tends to use corporate language and stays to the script very closely. It's a cold and disingenuous way to conduct yourself that I don't agree with)

Btw anyone notice his face legitimately looks like Mario. Has the big nose, cartoonish round features. It's honestly why they must have brought him on board. Then later they replace him for a dude with Bowser as his last name.
