So, how on earth are you actually sldering this?
I get the wires on the micro usb port but they just bend and break when I drop it into the 3DS housing.

Third Hand. Strip the end of the wire to a single/two strands.
Hotglue the whole thing together at least convering the single stranded part so that when you bend, you bend the flexible part.

or use something like this? Cut the wires and solder them to the 3DS

push the micro usb into the port first, then solder the wires to the pins once it's inside. use a glue gun to keep them from bending and shorting afterwards.

Can you (or anyone else who did this same mod) show pictures of the actual solder work and cable routing? The green pin (speaking based on the image you uploaded, as a pont of reference) is right behind the shaft where the case screw fits in. Trying to route the soldered cable around this has netted me with a broken pin every (three) time. I did do the gluing as well...

I use 30g wire so it easily goes around that point. The wire shouldn't stick out any longer than the pin its connected to if that makes sense.

I am able to read fine and make nand backups with the correct size and same MD5.
But when I try to write one of these .img files back onto my 3DS Win32 Disk Imager gives the following error:
2aa0ysh.jpg

Any help?

Something is wrong with the source file... move it somewhere else or maybe the program has no permissions to open it...

Hmm I moved the img file to the desktop:
C:/Users/USER/Desktop/NAND.img

and ran the program as admin...
same error...
Maybe a compatibility issue with windows 8.1?

Or the SD card reader, someone on a forum had the same problem with an SD card and he fixed it by changing his cardreader.

Hmm... must be the gauge of my wire. No idea what gauge it is, though it looks thicker than yours. I just used wired from the inside of an old USB cable. Where did you source the wire from?

EDIT: Thinking of grabbing some of THIS. Says radio shack, though I can;t find it at an actual radio shack lol.

EDIT2: Well, Maybe I am an idiot and can't type in a search bar. THIS seems to be exactly what you got, in the blue, no?

Hmm ive tried two...

That's a different error than I was getting...

That said, I eventually had to try FIVE reader before I found one that was working...

The error would imply that something is wrong with the source file, as was already mentioned. Are you able to dump a few more times and check to see if the files are identical?

I can confirm it isn;t an issue with Windows 8.1 as that is what I have used (OSX 10.9.1 as well)

Yes all 3 dumps are identical, same MD5 with a size of 954 MB (1,000,341,504 bytes)
