When you disconnect everything and cycle the power, does your N3DS work or does it still boot to a blue screen? If it remains on the blue screen, your CLK wire is shorted to something (my guess is a sloppy job on the microUSB port itself... Damn small working area with those unless they are mounted to a breakout board...)

Hi, I finished my hardmod today. Have a issue when turning the system on it randomly scrolls to the right in the menu for a couple of seconds and then I'm free to move left or right. (I can move left freely when booted but it fights me while it keeps trying to scroll right. The strange thing it gives up after a couple of seconds... My backup seems slow reading at about .5 MB/s. This is on my N3ds xl 9.0U using the anker usb 3.0 from amazon on the OP.

Did you test the RZ button, d-pad, both analog sticks, and the touch screen? Did you use flux and/or clean the area when done?

All the buttons seem to work fine haven't tried a game, I saw some homebrew to test buttons I'll try to find it again and use it. I used flux and used isopropyl.

looks like the ribbon slipped out for the joystick. No strange scrolling now. :)
I'll re-test another dump.

Here are some pics I took during installation:

Edit 1: Did another backup topped out at .6 MB/s both dumps match as far as size goes. It seems like windows really doesn't like dealing with this. I have a raspberry pi if there's a way to do it on there I can try that.

Edit 2: I have dumped the nand multiple times and only once did I get the md5 hashs to match. Looking at them with a hex editor they look the same and have ncsd like in the guide. I'm guessing the md5's should match each time. But only matched when I did back to back. The other ones where done after a reboot or an hour later. How should I be comparing them? Still maxing at .6 MB/s.

After the reboot, you'll always get a different hash. For some reason the RTC keeps track of time in NAND (which perhaps freezes when the blue screen comes up?) this will be evident when you restore a dump and either your date/time is reset to default or perhaps set to the date/time that you made the dump. Forgot which...

As for speed... Several factors could play into that, but usually it's a combination of your computer's USB support and the hardware that your reader uses. With 4 wires, I dump anywhere from 3~5MB/s.

had a "not so good" experience with these micro USB installations for customers (although I do it for myself).
I did this O3DS XL micro USD install and the customer's kid plugged a USB charger in it... ouch :P

My electrical knowledge is not so good but is it possible to include a resistor so that it will not work if current too big? This mean when plug usb charger current too big and it will stop it?

well the speed seems a bit off, but tbh the n3DS is quite fickle depending on cable length, type etc, generally you should be getting between 2-5mb/s with 1 dat line, and 7-15mb/s if you connect all 4, how long are your cables from motherboard to SD card, you should usually keep it to around 10-15cm (shorter the better)

Give me a break. The very first post has PICTURES of where to solder.

First page have a picture with clk,cmd,dat0,1,2,3.
After soldering wire to those pins where i have to solder them on the sd? And the gnd? And i need all the 4 dat or just dat0 as i've seen on some post? There is not EVERYTHING on the first post. if so, i woudn't have asked for help.

Ground is ground and if you don't know how to find ground, you may want to pay somebody else to do it. Roxas75 had his done in Italy so he's be one person to ask...

And the original post shows what NOT to use for a ground. That should be enough.

I can sympathize with needing a diagram for the SD adapter though. A google image search turns up a ton of them, but this is easiest to look at for a 4 wire job: https://gbatemp.net/threads/nand-flash-dump-3ds-xl.350668/page-77#post-4982466 (in a spoiler tag)

This mod is driving me nuts, doing the o3DSXL btw

Here's pics of the mod, its consistently booting to the blue screen, and i have a compatible SD reader but its just not working, its not showing up on my computer.

The mod is messy as all fuck, should i just restart it?

http://imgur.com/vDgBarR,IHbi3AC,EWtEFGM,uwVfk7J

Here's the album

When i plug the SD reader in, its constantly makes the windows plugged in and then unplugged noises, which i think is good? But no drive shows up

So i completely rewired the mod, still the same result, boots into blue screen, but does not read on my computer
Using the Transcend SD reader TS-RDP5K

It is difficult to judge from your pictures.
The length of the wires should be a maximum of 20-25 cm or even less if the SD card reader requests it.
