9.2.0-20U from a CTRTRANSFER
That* was one of my test firmwares and it worked :/

However, there was a second system that was cart updated to 9.2.0-19U from 8.1 and it didn't work. Even after giving it a full NUS update to -20U, it didn't work. Really weird. I double checked RO and spider were the correct versions too.

* btw - was that old3ds?

It is. Ill try to reinstall and initialize the browser.

EDIT: Just freezes the browser and yes it is that browser version.
I was able to recreate your problem exactly with a 9.2 2ds with ctrtransfer. Turns out the problem was caused by Rosalina (or b9s).
With a clean firm 9.2, I was able to boot hbmenu with the payload downloaded from nhax.gq.

So you are saying it does work with B9S?
Well I actually wasn't then but I am now :P

...that's because luma is the issue, namely this patch:
v5.5
15571693
AuroraWright released this on May 27, 2016 · 824 commits to master since this release

  • Added RO patches, which allow you to load custom CRO files (mainly used for Pokémon romhacks)
That breaks ninjhax1 since it takes over RO module and I suppose that modification trips it up.
So use any luma < 5.5 and ninjhax1 works. Or remove the RO patch from the latest luma and compile.

So basically any CFW that either lack that patch and or can disable it, this should work?
Probably. I just found this out so still testing stuff.
I've tested luma 5.4 and it works. I'll go ahead and attach it here since Github's links are broken (due to the punderino hack).
edit: for b9s, I also compiled legacy luma3ds 7.1 without ro patches (boot.zip)

I do not have a setup to test that myself.
Still I do find this rather interesting and I've been trying to figure out if it's B9S or the CFW causing issues.
I've been running some tests for some devs in the background and I've noticed some issues related with B9S, that I couldn't replicated on A9LH (at that time.) So this just seemed like a perfectly chance to see if something like this does work on B9S.
BTW, IIRC ReiNAND does not use the Ro patch. So anyone willing to test this with B9S, should use the latest build of ReiNAND from my post.

It does use RO patches, since 4.1.

Do you know how to? Or the things I need to remove so I can do it?

Was able to get 1.1b running via b9s 1.2 luma chainloaded to BootCTR9 to Cakes.dat on my o3ds. My N3ds on the other hand, I'm launching via BootCTR9 for 1.2 but can't for the life of me get r197Cakes to decrypt and load a 9.0 firmware.bin (CRC32 2ddf9123?) when booting. Anyone else happen to figure out a way to get that 1.1b payload up and running on a N3ds CFW after b9s 1.2?
Edit: Zoogie's Luma 7.1 works great but will conflict with later version configs

Hmm. Still freezes at running exploit... 040% even with luma 7.1. Even tried a emunand on 9.2E and 9.2U. (My Sysnand is 11.5U)

Edit: works now.

@SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's extra scummy. Ubisoft nowadays ship out incomplete games like Skull and Bones which was being worked on for nearly a decade now.

I like that games can be fixed after the fact, hate that it's being abused via beta tests... And DLC... I was a 7800 owner back in the day and loved Impossible Mission, turns out I couldn't beat it because it was actually impossible lol
