Hacking I bricked my wii u trying to downgrade my HOME menu

Hello there!

I made an account so that I can ask for help. I Replaced my HOME button menu with an older version and now its wont boot past the Wii U logo. Is there any way to fix this? I am willing to use a hard mode if it has to go there. I have a modded switch that is capable of running UDPIH too.

Please help me.

I think the reason it won't boot is the versions.bin. that's the file that prevents any downgrading whether game or os. The version is written in hex, but must be converted from decimal. Decimal is the actual version number.

How do I do that ? I can't replace anything with wupserver.

I have a backup of the old HOME button menu aswell.

Can you boot into the recovery menu? How did you downgrade? Installing the system menu? A game will not open if you do this, so I assume a system title won't either.

See if you can ftp the title back. I haven't checked the recovery menu in a long time, but I remember wup server. Can you use that? Someone made a fork of that menu with more options iirc.

Maybe the problem is privileges? Can you add write privileges? I'm not familiar with jwupclient.

you meant the actual recovery menu on the wii u itself. Not the programs on the computer. Sorry for misunderstanding lol.

You can run wup in windows as I think it uses python. The privileges command could be chmod -R 644 . This gives write privileges to all files and folders as well as subsequent folders and files when they're created. However, it may need 755, which I know some switch folders use.

Idk how to run it in python, when i double click it, or put it in cmd, it just crashes.

Iirc, at least with the original wup, you had to open the .py script and put in your wiiu ip. Open the context menu and choose open with IDLE
