I connected both to the internet, and the internal is eth2, the dongle is wlan1

I am also thinking that the Broadcom card may not be compatible with hostapd, and that is why I had so much trouble when this one ran Mint.

If that's the case, I'll do a fresh install on the other netbook and see what happens.
You only need to connect 1 to the internet the other one is for the hotspot

The 2/6/A/E limitation was added in 7, previous versions can use all of them.

However, built-in ad-hoc support was only added in 7, so it's a bit harder to set it up on XP/Vista.
I see. I guess I'm lucky to have a WiFi stick that supports AP mode over a bridged connection (ZyDAS 1211b).

Also, the link to Somebunny's file isn't working. I grabbed the zip set from Alphonso am can't seem to figure out what to do with everything.

I'm not great at the terminal, as I've stated before.

Here's a working link to the file from somebunny: http://gbatemp.net/attachments/wifi_zone-sh-zip.3805/ . Use the link in the main post.

Edit: Looks like it already has the MAC address and additional edits done. :)

Well lets switch to 4E:53:50... it will be compatible with windows and "NSP" in ascii, acronym for nintendo street pass. The rest 3 octets will be used for titles CTR code so we can have fully readable ascii representation

Infrastructure, not ad-hoc .

Try using it that way, that's just a name anyway

Okay, so a quick google check suggested that I can change the driver for the broadcom card to something that may work.

Now I get eth1 as the internal, and wlan1 is still the dongle.

Anyway, resuming with guide.

dicamarques sir it partially works, The Nintendo Zone indeed shows up, however no people found yet...maybe because forgot that part:
Make sure your 3ds connects to the internet (use the nzone app to test it) and remove any internet configs from your 3ds settings so theres no attempt to communicate to any router arround you.
I will try to check this today/tomorrow/soon, I still had 2 connection set-ups saved in 3DS, I will delete them and check around, especially that

Happy to hear that, I will re-download the script and then check everything once again ^_^

I changed my router's SSID and MAC address, but I'm only getting nintendo zone and no streetpasses. Am I doing something wrong? Or do I just have to wait? It's been changed for about 2 hours now.

I'm having the same issue. My SSID and MAC address are all lined up, my 3DS connects to it, detects a Nintendo Zone and has internet access, and it's the only connection setup on the 3DS, but I'm not getting any streetpasses. My 3DS has the latest update. I'm using a DD-WRT router to clone my MAC address for what it's worth. Anyone else having the same problem?

Maybe your router is not spoofing the mac correctly. Just got a hit

Any idea why that would be or how I would fix it? I've tried lots of different MAC addresses and they all went through, but no streetpasses.

Now I'm using the following as cron jobs for DD-WRT (2 options):
Code:
#Type 1 : 32 MACS
0-59/6 * * * * root ifconfig eth1 down && ifconfig eth1 hw ether 40:53:50:4F:4F:4`/bin/cat /proc/interrupts | /usr/bin/md5sum | /usr/bin/cut -b 1` && ifconfig eth1 up
3-59/6 * * * * root ifconfig eth1 down && ifconfig eth1 hw ether 4E:53:50:4F:4F:4`/bin/cat /proc/interrupts | /usr/bin/md5sum | /usr/bin/cut -b 1` && ifconfig eth1 up

#Type 2 : 512 MACS

0-59/6 * * * * root ifconfig eth1 down && ifconfig eth1 hw ether 40:53:50:4F:4F:`/bin/cat /proc/interrupts | /usr/bin/md5sum | /usr/bin/cut -b 1``/bin/cat /proc/interrupts | /usr/bin/md5sum | /usr/bin/cut -b 1` && ifconfig eth1 up
3-59/6 * * * * root ifconfig eth1 down && ifconfig eth1 hw ether 4E:53:50:4F:4F:`/bin/cat /proc/interrupts | /usr/bin/md5sum | /usr/bin/cut -b 1``/bin/cat /proc/interrupts | /usr/bin/md5sum | /usr/bin/cut -b 1` && ifconfig eth1 up

This cycles every three minutes. Choose only one type!
Type 1 cycles 32 different MACS, from @SPOO* and NSPOO*
Type 2 cycles 512 MACS, from @SPO** and NSPO**

I am now using type 2, so we can expect a hit every three minutes once all MACS are seeded . This way, in half an hour I should have ten Mii Plaza hits. Type 1 should be completely seeded by now, or in a couple of hours, when people changes from @SPOOF to NSPOOF .
Using attwifi as SSID.

I definitely have the same problem. Really don't know what to do. Like you said, mine connects to Nintendo Zone just fine, which is about as clear a sign that things are working that I know of. My ssid has been _The Cloud and MAC as either 40:53:50:4F:4F:46 or 40:53:50:4F:4F:47.

    @Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    @TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

    be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves

    @Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea

  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
    @The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
