This has to be one of the greatest news evar. I can't wait for it to support PSP1000 and MHFU fully.

Makes you wonder why Sony itself didn't implement something like this in the first place but then again, it's Sony we're talking about - "BUY A PS3 TO USE AD-HOC PARTY! AND MAKE YOUR FRIENDS BUY ONE, TOO!" :yaypsp:

Since this is a thread about PRO cfw. Seeing as how there is a PRO-B and a PRO-C, does a PRO-A exist?
Yes... PRO-A does exist. It was the earliest release of PRO Custom Firmware.
So any reason as to why it was abandoned? I can see the logic in calling PRO-C by a new letter cause it adds something really major; adhoc over internet.

No.. well I wouldn't say it was 'abandoned'. PRO-B is merely a bunch of new bug fixes/features added to PRO-A, its just as you said just a new letter to indicate a major release

EDIT:

Changelog
Beta 0.05 [R29]{Release Notes}
Changed Chat System to Keyboard Input
Added Experimental Matching Library Emulator (this causes a whole bunch of titles to become playable now)

1000 has half the RAM of later devices, and some CFW features will use the extra RAM.
Well, I've talked on IRC to a guy named kakarotto which is admin on the Pro-CFW forums, and he said that on PSP1000 the only game working currently is God Eater (J). So it might be just a thing of different calls or something on the 1000.

I sure do hope so, I've got one :P

Apologises for the double post, but I think this should be in an entirely new post..

Stable PRO-C released

The first stable version of PRO-C has been released, which supports the Prometheus Online Client.

Changlog:
Fixed several memory unlocking problems like the VSH exit crash (broken homescreen).
Added high memory forcing support for SEN NPDRM EBOOTs (most useful in combination with Prometheus Online - www.prometheus.uk.to).
Relinked the PSP online manual to the PRO CFW server.

This release is compatible with Prometheus Online, a 2g+ PSP online gaming service which can be found at www.prometheus.uk.to!

Updated the PARAM.SFO files to show proper CFW version.

Thanks for this information, I've uploaded PRO-C to Filetrip.
I'll update the files as more fixes become available.

Ah then people should stay away from the new PRO-C CIPL installer for now.
I added the warning from Coldbird on the PROCFW Project Page

IMPORTANT! READ BEFORE USING!

At the moment people are reporting issues with the latest release (PRO-C) CIPL installer producing softbricks on 1g and 2g units.
We are investigating the matter! Until then... if you really need to install CIPL, please use the CIPL installer from PRO-B10 fix1.
Thank you very much. ~ Coldbird

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite
    for people with beefy hands.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

    but that's a long shot

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
