Ah, this might be obvious, but wouldn't the best course of action be just to buy the newest 3DS title? Wouldn't that have latest 3DS FW? Even though there wouldn't be any access to the internet, you could still use soundhax from 11.2.

Hmm.... That seems like it'd work. I will try that if I am unable to get a copy of Cubic Ninja.

Game cards will update the firmware, but not the browser. So it will still have a -4 at the end of the firmware. That's the whole problem here. If there was a payload to work with version 4 browser, that would be great.

No, no, no. The browser version is irrelevant to the payload. I can TRY to write one, it is just binary, but no promises.

Still, Poochy and Yoshi'd Wooly World contains FW Version 11.2. If you have the $40 pick it up, or find someone to trade a game with for it. Run the update it needs and all should be fine. Of course this is all theoretical and I could be completely wrong.

Any other games have 11.2? My brother just bought Dragon Quest 8.

Doesnt work like that, most games have a minimum version on the cart. Best bet is poochy and yoshi.

As of that, if soundhax simply doesnt work (idk why but apparantly it just doesnt) best bet is Ninjhax or a zelda oot with a hacked save, but those might have the same result as soundhax.

That updating to 11.2 with a cart might work, but you are assuming soundhax would work on 11.2. On that, it still needs a payload, and afaik, the sound program on the 3ds never has been updated, hence why soundhax is so populair.. It should work on all versions.

Edit: since you do have a 2nd 3ds, get zelda. Its alot more cheap then Ninjhax. All you need then is homebrew access on the 2nd one and use the save exploit installer.

Not so sure I wanna risk my N3ds with any modifications. The only reason I'm even remotely trying to mod my 2ds, is because I bought one that was already modded and wanted to restore it to normal.....or one day have it modded properly. Don't wanna risk my main 3ds.

Risk? Soundhax with an payload is userland, and at most, is that the save doesnt work from oot. Userland is usermode, not permanent and not able to modify (important) files. If you delete the files afterwards from the SD, its back to vanilla clean.

Also, wich you can try:
Evoker: Hard-shutdown his 3DS after "Installation Complete, rebooting in 10 seconds..." This shouldn't happen, so it's likely a crash happened. Managed to get into recovery, and changed his primary DNS to 8.8.8.8 and secondary to 8.8.4.4, which downloaded 10.3.

You can always try to change the dns settings and give this a go. This or Ninjhax /oothax might be your way out.

Did you try to update in recovery? Maybe that works.

Edit: with the dns settings ofcourse.

Yeah. Changed the DNS settings as provided. Tried in recovery mode. Tried with the SD in, SD out. Tried in system menu as well. I've tried every combination I can think of. It goes to about 90% and gives me an error and shuts down.

Didn't try Hotspot ting yet. I'll give it a go tonight. Also, I don't have a physical copy of Ocarina YET.
Fixed, great game and with the select version price wise worth it, you Just need to get the hacked save on it. If you look at Ninjhax.. Yeah.. Might as Well buy a New ds then price wise. Hotspot might work, and keep us up to date if you find a way out.

I was stuck on firmware 11.0.0-4U as well. I had the same problem. I forgot to leave the WIFI switch ON when reverting to an older firmware. Now I'm screwed. I'm glad I found this thread. Someone mentioned purchasing Yoshi's Wooly World in order to get firmware 11.2.x.x But BE ADVISED:

It comes with a firmware that is ALSO incompatible with the soundhax otherapp exploit. It is firmware version 11.2.0-4U

I just blew $40 on this game that I don't even want.
Does anyone know which firmware comes with the "Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns" cartridge?
And for that matter, does anyone know which firmware will come with "Mario Sports Superstars"?

in summary: DO NOT BUY the YOSHI GAME TO FIX THIS PROBLEM.

Also, I got a copy of "Cubic Ninja" for $25. It seems that isn't going to work since my firmware is 11.2.0-4U now. I still can't download a matching otherapp.bin

I thought you could remove the battery for like 10 seconds to reset the wi-fi if on 2ds/n3ds on older firmware.

Thanks for the tip. I will give it a try.

EDIT: The battery thing didn't work. Thanks anyway.
It does work, if using an N3DS or 2DS that have a software switch. On an old 3DS or 3DS XL you have to toggle the physical switch.
