Homebrew What's your reason for wanting arm9/arm11 control?

To get full control of the device I paid for (and no, I don't want piracy, I import a lot each month, but I do want to backup my stuff) without being dependent on @smealum for updates and his homebrew launcher and its derivatives to run homebrew like a junkie :ha:

Oh, and eShop access with FMP because the Japanese eShop gets a lot of cool stuff.
may i ask what FMP is? Back into the 3ds scene

Free multi patcher. It allows for eShop access on outdated firmware, something that used to be possible with homebrew until it was abruptly fixed by Nintendo. It still works for 10.2 though.

does it allow you to regularly get into the japanese eshop or do you have to change the region of the emunand?

for piracy. but it's also nice to have something that 3ds is capable of but nintendo decided to not give us. gba and dsi "bc", screenshoots, save backup for all 3ds games.

These "arms" are not arms, but ARM kernels.
I want it because signpatch and emuNAND. But ARM11 would be still sufficient for me. It could be used to downgrade.

Oh, seriously ? :P
ARM9 = PXI services, signcheck, all that stuff
ARM11 = RAM usage, processes handling, services, games, etc
in a nutshell of course, I guess there's something about it on 3dbrew
sorry but I have to ask, how would you manage to downgrade without arm9 control if it's the one which handles signcheck?

1. Cheats
2. Being able to rip all of your games to digital format
Those are literally the only 2 reasons I wanted full access, and I got them, so I'm happy. Maybe stupid reasons in the end, but it's good enough for me.

Here in Malaysia, games are pricey. Plus, the stores doesn't sell the games i wanted. and i cannot use my credit card to buy games from eShop because i set it to USA before i knew that it only accept USA credit cards. And i want to dump my games without carrying them and emulators

Piracy of course DUH lol

Most importantly full PSX and Gba emulation speed

Everyone that is against piracy has no doubt played emulators

Even though emulators are piracy everyone has played Roms one way or another

And also....

Even though you have the original game and you download the rom it's still piracy

But who cares!!! We love Roms and we shouldn't care if people think it's illegal

We do illegal things online like downloading a picture... Or music... Or videos

Might as well delete all my GBA, SNES, GB, GBC, NES, MAME, SEGA GENESIS, SMS, GAME GEAR Games because it's illegal lol

That's over 5000+ games hahaha
I know I will never ever own every game so who cares. It's not like the police will show up at my do........

*knocks on door*
Opens the door
*See's the police*

Runs away

anyone who says "to run my legitly acquired backups from my real carts" is retarded. newsflash buddy, dumping your cart and having them installed on your console is already against nintendo's agreement. where's your morality now!?!!?!?

OT: for piracy obviously, which i already have. :yay3ds:

The way I see it is that if you buy a game, than you should be able to use its data any way you want as long as you dont release it to the public.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

    but that's a long shot

i think only the red mario kart edition phat was v5
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
