Idk what nub is, but looks like analog to me. If you broke off an old n64 analog stick and glued it on this bad boy. it could be a pretty good analog >_> You could pwn in MKDS, and it would be easy to move diagonally.

Oh and if you noticed teh buttons light up

its blue too

And no..this is not me.

I don't see anything analog about it.

Yes, it looks like an analog stick, but it's just a replacement for the D-Pad.

If it were analog, the ship in the game would be moving at different speeds.

The only simple thing is as Samutz says, it's not an analog stick! I'm sure it was acheived with great effort but personally, I'm not sure of the significance.

Besides, apart from mario kart, all the games I enjoy you can use the strangely unpopular thumb strap technique and bingo - an analog stick!

Anyway no disrepect - someones gotta try new things

peace

My point was that it isn't analog.

I wasn't bashing anyone.

it's very simple to do this kind of thing. you know if you've ever tried opening up and fiddled inside any kind of controller. keyboard, gameboy, joystick or whatever.
and yeah, this kind of mod is kind of useless since it isn't analog.
tho I like the flashy byxa buttons
biggrin.gif
oh and while you're at it, look at his other mod where he can tilt to move left/right, that one is useless too
smile.gif
but still very cool

I've heard this mentioned before.. but what exactly is this thumb strap technique?

Umm... I suppose it is using the thumb strap?

The THUMB STRAP (

) was a little piece of plastic that sat on the strap included with the DS Phat... I'm sure you've got it... or else...
unsure.gif
... don't tell me your first DS was a DS lite!??

Indeed my first DS was a DS phat, bought on release. Also your correct about what the thumb strap is and for games like mario 64 ds (or whatever it;s called) it feels just like playing the original N64 version.

For anyone who's still not clear, the thumb strap basically alowed you to use the touch screen as an analog directional pad.

Bah... using the touch screen as an analog stick isn't even close to the real thing. Using something like the thumb strap helps make it easier to move your thumb around, but you still don't have the tactile feel and snap-back-to-center of a real analog stick. The lack of an analog stick is the DS' Achilles' heel, IMO.

I just recently picked up a n64 from a garage sell, and looking to mod it and add a HDMI port to it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/3548173115...044&customid=4f3038da73b61afddf7e5e90f4153856

I'd like to find a power strip and HDMI selector built in 1 unit, so I can select which game system I want, and will switch to that hdmi, and power on that plug/power supply only, so don't have all game systems powered all the time, but can't find anything like. May just have to make something myself.

Maybe start a kick starter page and sell them, yea right. Big N would prob C&D me, not anything Big N related, but just because that's what they do nowdays. Then come out with they own in a year or so.

@SylverReZ, windows 10 and some linux distro like linux mint

    @SylverReZ, cuz of lag?
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, No. Whenever you use the internet on Windows, Microsoft collects personal data and installs bloatware that isn't necessarily needed, such as Edge.

Yes, you can debloat the operating system, but in some cases for me it just reinstalls them.

  • impeeza @ impeeza:
@Xdqwerty yes, when you are installing Windows on the first steps you are asked for your current location, you MUST to select «international» so no bloatware is installed, because the bloatware is location based. if this night I have some time I will setup a VM and take screenshots.
