Wasn't it lacking the ingame menu and RTS? Which was what set the CycloDS apart from other flashcarts at the time, so really it's only superficially similar.
I feel like it might not actually have been a clone but rather a budget product by the same team. If you're gonna clone a flashcart why not clone the main selling point, too?

CycloDS has firmware updates which integrates the latest kernel onto the card's internal flash memory, whereas on the EDGE carts, the kernel stays on the microSD card and is read from there much like any other flashcart. EDGE is missing a lot of in-game features; real-time-save is one and slow-motion. I had a theory that EDGE may be a subsidiary of CycloDS, and shoved it out as sort of a cut-down budget revision to minimize on costs, because I have my doubts that it's a clone of anything else.
