Ocarina of Time had the best graphics of its time. There is no reason for you to play any older game if you are just going to complain about the graphics.

EDIT: Also, you are all kind of proving my point that Zelda fans are mostly either nostalgic or "fanboys" (as much as I hate to use the word). Very few of you are mentioning real arguments besides 'You are dumb' or 'OMFG so wut if the grafics r bad LOL!' There is a whole blog post there, not just a part about Ocarina of Time.

Also, Guildy, I stated straight off that I'm not here to change people's minds. I meant it more as a discussion on actual facets of Zelda gameplay.

If you wanted to just state the facts I doubt that saying "Zelda Sucks" before I even open the thread doesn't really help, now does it? It's just an obvious ploy to piss off fanboys and attract attention, which is what trolls long for.

I'm not a fanboy by any means for Zelda. Sure, I do love some of the Zelda games, but I'm critical where it needs to be. Still, you're argument for Ocarina (since that's what I'm focusing on for now) seems to relate back to the N64 not being powerful enough. And back then, it was powerful enough. You're just wishing for the impossible here. And complaining because the first part of the game was "easy" is bullshit. No duh the first part is easy. Some incredibly hardcore games often flop simply for being hard as dick right off the bat and it immediately pushes away many gamers. Games have a smooth difficulty curve, it's something that we want. And complaining that the game was easy in the beginning is simply pointless because it was supposed to be easy in the beginning. Get near the end and it gets tougher and harder.

As for that COP point you made, the DS was powerful enough for COP. The problem was that COP was a terrible game. That's not the fault of the DS, it's the fault of the developers for making a crappy game.

Back when Ocarina of Time was released the graphics were revolutionary. Compared to more modern times, yes they were pretty crappy. You seem to be looking back at it and comparing it against more modern games. The N64 did have better 3d graphics then it's counterpart at the time, the PSX.

You have to start somewhere with 3d gaming. You can't expect to have a sudden leap from 2d graphics to near perfect 3d. I will direct you to look at the NES, Atari, Commodre 64 and so on. Those were pretty crappy too, but with time 2d games developed to be something more.

This is not the point. It's like if I built a hovercar that could hover but not move on a horizontal plane. It'd be the best hovercar, but it'd still be terrible, and you'd be better off with just a regular car.

I know some smarmy ass will say that there are already hovercars, just not made commercially. I know, it was just an example.

You gave up at the first temple? Give me a break, Ocarina of Time was one of the easiest Zelda games (yes, even the Water Temple was easy IMO). I played the game in 2002 (when I was 6) and I beat the game no problem. And as for your complaint at the graphics, you do realize the game was released on the N64 in 1998? The N64 isn't the most powerful on the whole damn planet. And the controls, how are they hard? It's an analog stick, it's actually pretty fucking easy. You're just trolling.

LOLOL you are young and can't read well enough to understand my post. I'll spell it out for you. The portion of the game I played wasn't challenging (as in hard puzzles and difficult battles) but frustrating. Okay, the N64 isn't the most powerful system, but that doesn't give an excuse for developers to release muddy games with archaic controls.

The DS was not strong enough for a game like C.O.P The Recruit, but it still sucks.

Congrats for beating a game when you were six though. You must be superhuman.

We understand that, but that is the game that you pulled out to give an example on how much you suck at the games. So therefore, that is the game that we chose to point out the massive flaws in your argument.

But this isnt a way to justify the situation. you cant run before you walk. without the first step, the supposed muddy graphics, then what basis would games have to build upon? the first 3D games were, undeniably, crappy. The processing power wasnt available and the programming styles were new and very hit and miss. However, for its time it was, as stated before, brilliant. It applied the simplistic game mechanics that all games of previous generations had implemented while also adding the 3D aspect. For gamers this was an amazing leap and, as can be seen by todays standards, pushed developers into working with 3D.

You may not enjoy the combat system, you may not enjoy the gameplay, you may not enjoy any part of the game, but why does that matter? Its an opinion, nothing more. some people like mario, some people like sonic, some people like zelda... not everyone does or has to, dont say it sucks or try to show its "weakpoints" when most of them are simply what makes the game enjoyable to others.

I like the simplistic battle system, i had no problem with the controls, i LOVED the puzzle aspects (especially with the gameboy versions).
the only negative points i have are towards wind waker and the triforce searching... but even that, is an opinion.
