This would've been a really nice thread to follow if it didn't got quickly derailed by the unattended children on the forum.
Oh well...
I love Zelda, traditionally.
Don't own a WiiU nor a Switch and to be honest the following Switch 2 or whatever's gonna be called in the future doesn't appeal to me since it'll be another glorified underpowered and expensive tablet. So hard pass too.
That said, Zelda in my experience stopped at Twilight Princess and began with Link's Awakening.
In my experience, Ocarina of Time is by far the best Zelda game. Call it nostalgia, bias or whatever the fuck you want, but being there in the 90s, witnessing the jump from 16bit to 64bit was a huge experience for me. Being used to play Zelda in my Gameboy and later SNES and then seeing a huge world on the N64 was a wonderful experience that I haven't had with any other game, except maybe Super Mario Galaxy 2 back in 2010.
Majora's Mask is probably my least favourite Zelda game. It's short... repetitive and the music doesn't quite hit it for me.
I personally think that Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link is better than Majora's Mask.
Then Wind Waker came along and instantly fell in love with it too. Played it with my lil bro on his GameCube in 2003. Didn't owned the game up till 2005. Beautiful charming experience, that to be honest, is a bit too easy for a Zelda game. The late parts of the story felt rushed and boring though. But overall a good game. It would've been better if it didn't had the Triforce Pieces boring hunting part.
Twilight Princess on the other hand tries to get on pair with Ocarina of Time and I got the chance to play the GameCube original back in 2006 and later owned the Wii game in 2008.
It was good. The best music in a Zelda game and a good story. Decent amount of dungeons and lots of secrets to discover. The first time playing it whole was a really exciting experience. I've tried to replay it, but somehow I keep getting attracted towards Ocarina.
The last "modern" Zelda I played was Between Worlds, and it wasn't good for mee. Too easy, repetitive, unamusing, predictive... there wasn't a challenge for me to finish the game as I completed it in just 2 days. After that everything's kinda meh.
Zelda for me, is not the same. And even though at this point in time, I haven't anticipated or got excited for a new Zelda game, specially since Breath of the Wild which in y opinion isn't a Zelda game at all. It might have Link, Zelda and Ganon there, but it's simply not the same anymore.
Hopefully, Nintendo makes a proper 4K Unreal Engine, Traditional formula Zelda game with lots of dungeons, lots of sidequests and secrets and lots of old items. Nintendo is wasting the potential of a traditional Zelda game with today's graphical capabilities and sound technology.
Huge detailed environmets in a fantasy world with 3D sound would be an amazing experience for both old and new Zelda players.
