Homebrew YSMenu Usage?

In YSMenu, press START button will turn to system menu.
There, prompting "SELECT = DS Menu", when I press SELECT button, it goes write screen.
Then what's the function for this button?

BTW: Does L button in YSMenu GUI is invalid?

This function leads you to NDS firmware(, where you can set your birthday etc). If you are on DSi, don't use it(completely useless)...

Just NDS firmware is executed. cannot be modified
