my sister was having some trouble with her r4 using ysmenu and none of her games were working so i looked at the forums and saw that we didn't have a guide on what the error codes on YSMenu really mean and how to fix them so i figured i would make one.

so far we have 7 error codes(2 unknown):

Error Code -?:
Means: Cart not connecting right
How To Fix: Something to do with Soldering

Error Code -?:
Means: Cart not connecting right
How To Fix: Something to do with Soldering

Error Code -4:
Means: The game you're trying to play is either DSi enhanced or has AP
How To Fix: wait for a fix in that game in the latest unnoficial dstt firmware and rebuild ysmenu using that

Error Code -6:
Means: ?
How To Fix: Take all your games off your microsd, format your card with Panasonic formatter (http://gbatemp.net/index.php?download=6603), put all your games back on you card

Error Code -8:
Means: ?
How To Fix: Take all your games off your microsd, format your card with Panasonic formatter (http://gbatemp.net/index.php?download=6603), put all your games back on you card

Error Code -81:
Means: Seems to mean a problem with FAT type
How To Fix: i seemed to be able to fix this by moving my games from my 2gb formatted in FAT onto my 2gb formatted in FAT32 and the other way around

Error Code -82:
Means: ?
How to fix: Take all your games off your microsd, format your card with Panasonic formatter (http://gbatemp.net/index.php?download=6603), put all your games back on you card and make sure you have at least 4 Megabytes (MB) of free space on your card.

Error code 2147483632 Please Reset Your System:
Means: the SD card thinks games that are not there still are
How to fix: Take all your games off your microsd, format your card with Panasonic formatter (http://gbatemp.net/index.php?download=6603), put all your games back on you card

if you see any error codes i don't have in this list or incorrect fixes for error codes, post here and if possible tell me what it means and how to fix it. Thanks!

Error Code -8. Meaning: ? Solution: Format with Panasonic formatter. Occurs occasionally. There may be another solution.
Error Code -4. Meaning: ? Solution: Format with Panasonic formatter. Occurs often. There may be another solution.
Error Code -6. Meaning: ? Solution: Format with Panasonic formatter. Occurs rarely. There may be another solution.

Most of the errors I've seen (with the DSTT YSMenu, not on R4) can easily be fixed by a reformat. There are two ones that mean that the cartridge's terminals/contacts are not connecting to the DS's properly, but I forgot the codes as my mate fixed fixed the problem with a bit of solder pretty quickly. Keep this thread here, I've heard accounts from people who couldn't fix their problems.
This thread is a great idea by the way.

^try copying all your games off and then formmating it with Panasonic Formatter and then putting them back on
(or if you use windows, copy all the games off , right click on you microsd under "my computer" and choose "format" and choose "FAT32" under the box that says "file system" them click the "format" button, wait for it to finish and copy your games back on)

It's better to use the panasonic formatter than to use the windows one. Your problems just come straight back if you try and format it with windows.

^you mean reformatted? all i can say is:
1)try reformatting again

2)check and see if there is a newer version of ysmenu that you could try

3)check and see if you have the latest infolib.dat (you'll have to do a search as i don't remember where to get it)

yes, but if he is using a regular r4 (like most of us ysmenu users) he has a 2gb card. the panasonic formatter only formats 2gb cards to FAT and SDHC to FAT32 so if he wants to anything different, he needs to use either windows or GParted(linux)

Isn't errcode=-4 an antipiracy issue where the game cannot load properly?

And what's the point of a guide if the solution to everything is "format and try again"?

Also, your sign is lulzy to the point that I just used a word I despise and have never used to describe how bad it is.

Hi there i'm new here but that's off-topic. What i wanted to ask is, formatting really will fix errcode=-82?, just if it isn't obvious i use r4 with ys menu and only one game gives me this errcode, pokemon soulsilver in jap with a translation patch posted on another thread by ryquib. I read there that it's supposed to work in r4 with ysmenu but it doesn't in my r4 (original) while the first translation patch for ss(j) by kazo did. So, yeah, formatting will really help?, 'cause for what i understood that's supposed to happen with all games not just one out of the lot. thanks in advance to anyone who can help me.
