Your thoughts on funerals

ShadowSoldier, that's a rather selfish view on freedom of speech. If some one incites racial hatred, are the victims bringing this upon themselves because they can't agree whit what the speaker is thinking?
If you didn't mean anything by it then why say it?

I think funerals are dead boring.

Except you're bringing personal attacks into this, as I didn't make a personal attack. I just said I don't give a shit about it. If someone said "ShadowSoldier, not believing in a religion is stupid", I wouldn't care.

I'd say If you have to get drunk to be able to handle the loss instead of being a broken down mess, (screaming, crying, telling other people you want to kill yourself because you are no longer able to handle life anymore without the one that died), yea, more power to you. I think getting drunk and having a party is idea because the loss is only going to affect the living so the living should make It a happy time and tell/share the stories and legacy of the person that is now not part of there lives anymore. If there is some form of afterlife I think they would want you to not dwell on the past and just live, (learn, grow, share, experience) your own life.

I think it honestly depends on the person. If it's a friend, it's more of a mourning, whereas if it's something like a grandparent, we sort of treat it as a celebration of their life. Getting drunk just seems really out of contrast compared to what I'm used to when I go to a funeral. When I went to my grandfather's funeral and when I recited the eulogy I wrote, there were a few funny lines in there because it involved my grandpa being, well, grandpa, and that's how he rolled. Ended up coaxing a few good laughs from the families there.
