Gaming XP won't install drivers for my USB to IDE cable.

Okay, when I plug the thing in, XP tells me that it found a new hardware. After awhile, it then tells me that there was a problem installing it or something. I tried looking around on google for answers, but I didn't find anything.

What do I have to do in order to get XP to install it? For the record, I'm using an R-Driver USB 2.0 to IDE Cable.
 
There aren't any. It's a plug and play device :\ . I'm actually not sure what it is since my bro bought it a long time ago and he no longer has the box nor the CD that came with it (He said the CD was for Win98 and 2K only), but I just assume it's an R-Driver because while doing a bit of snooping around for a possible driver, I found the cable that looks just like mine under the brand of R-Driver.

And it also came with a power adapter that you insert into the 4-pin part of a Hard Drive (Don't know what it's called).
 
Nope. You know when XP says that it found a new hardware (It says USB to IDE and USB Mass Storage in this case)? After that, it'll attempt to install drivers. When it can't, it then says that a problem occurred. I went to check it out in Device Manager, and the problem was with the USB Mass Storage device. This happened on my other computer too, and both could read my 4GB Memory Stick through a PSP, my 4GB Transcend Pendrive and my 1GB microSD.

I checked the Device Management, but only the internal HDDs were listed.

My laptop says the device problem was with the USB Mass Storage. I tried it on my other computer, but it also gave me an error. Though it didn't tell me which device failed.

Restart your computer and check disk management and make sure you format it

Suonds like the disc or the cable have incompatibilities (or is broken). Have you tried the disc and the cable on another system?

An adapter for the Molex connector on the disc.
 
I don't think it's broken, otherwise the laptop wouldn't detect it. I've tried 2 different HDDs just to be sure, and it's the same thing. I'm also pretty sure the cable is compatible with XP, since that's what it said on one of the sites I went to. The disc that came with it was only for those who're not using XP and/or higher since 98 and 2K don't support plug and play if I remember correctly.
 
Make sure you have it firmly connected and that is not broken. If its plug in play it should just work.
 
I've tripled check, and everything is tightly connected. The disc inside the HD is also spinning when you plug the AC adapter in.

EDIT: I haven't tried another OS, but I did try on my desktop computer. It gives me the same error, except that the USB Mass Storage error inside the second pic isn't there.
 
Also make sure you are updated via Windows Update. Try rebooting and pluging in again. Sometimes I have the same problem with some of my PnP hardware I have to reboot and it works fine.
 
I'm not entirely sure, since one of them was used as a PS2 hard drive a little over 1 year ago (Though it has been reformatted, to what file system I don't know). Not sure about the other one.
