Hacking xKit Dongle Firmware update 1.2

Firmware v1.2 change log:

• Disable payload change function at low battery situation, to prevent damage the USB flash drive files.
• Change battery charge status detect method.
• LED will flash when USB flash drive read and write.

Firmware update instruction

1.Download the firmware file first from here
2.Unzip the firmware file.
3.Connect the RCMloader one to your Computer via the MicroUSB cable.
4.Copy the IAP folder to the root of USB drive.The file like this, USB DRIVE:\IAP\FIRMWARE.BIN.
5.Un-plug the MicroUSB cable.
6.Plug the MicroUSB cable again, the RCMloader will auto upgrade in 3 seconds, then the IAP folder in USB DRIVE should be auto deleted.





one problem I have experienced and would like to know if its the same with others is.
I have done there update process b4 and it worked np. this time around however the "IAP" folder doesn't disappear on my RCM Loader so I have no way of knowing if the update was even pushed to the device or flashed. if they would add a txt file to the device that said "update successful" that would be great. there is already a txt file in there with the current loaded payload so I don't see why they couldn't do both.
this dongle does seem to work still without issue so no biggie. thanx.



***Update to Firmware issue*****
I guess it comes down to you need to make sure the battery on your dongle is fully charged first. thats all I can say about IAP folder not dissapering. after full charge and following upgrade instructiona, all is well.
sorry for giving the sense that it was a bad update or still a beta like sx os has. flash away my friends...

ebay actualy it works great no issues with the former firmware update either version 1.1... best 10 bucks i ever spent... now they are 15 or more due to popularity... just go there and type in search "RCM usb loader"

where did you buy this from?

You can find it on aliexpress for $ 12, personally I brought 100 pcs from a different place from China for $6 to resell it I'm my country .

Just to clarify, if you quickly want to know on what firmware version your dongle is, simply right click on the 'Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media'-icon in your task bar while you have dongle connected to your PC.

it does looks like a clone cause it doesnt have the thing written on it

Just updated mine successfully and the IAP folder was auto deleted, as it should have been. I have verified that it is now reading as 1.2 from the safely remove hardware and eject media icon of my taskbar.

AceNS is the same dongle as this one. So if you can't find the xkit's one, look for a AceNS.

Buyed 2 from ebay for like 5€ each and the update was working without a problem for me on both devices.

was your device on 1.1 or 1.0 before the update?

As far as I know, AceNS just bought these from Xkit and rebranded them. Nothing is unique or cloned about them.

Probably not, it seems like all the listings got removed from AliExpress and they had to stop including product pictures. These guys instead decided to censor out the logo. But with no feedback/reviews I wouldn't buy from them.

i was successful as i said when i edited my original post. all it took was a more or fully charged unit to accept the update and delete the IAP folder.

i wouldn't honestly say the clones are the same like even aceNS versus xkit I can remember the r4 days with the dsi most of the "clones" had there own websites printed on the devices and I know from experiance you could almost neverr use one interchanchable firmware wise.... the first card i bought actuly took me a while to find that out till i found this site of all places to straten that out for me. and then i found out about the supercard ds2 and it was all over...lol... just saying stick to sites printed on most dongles... mine was right on the case... perfect, and so far no complaints, ecept 1 question for the coders. can you redo the firmware to accept payload names instaed of just "oayload.bin" its verry dumb to have to always rename the payloads after copying them and if your a newb they might get mixed up if you do it in the same folder first........ done ranting...hehe

I dont know which fw is on my rcm loader right now ?
Or does it not matter if i maybe already have the 1.2 fw on the rcm loader ?
