v0.2.8
*27.08.25*

v0.2.8

  • Roughly 75% of the main story (voiced lines) in Iira the Golden Country has been retranslated
  • All camp scenes in Iira the Golden Country are now fully retranslated
  • All unvoiced story events in Iira the Golden Country are now fully retranslated
  • All mandatory story quests in Iira the Golden Country have been retranslated (other quests remain untouched for now)
  • Numerous fixes in the main game’s story dialogues (typos, missing punctuation, cut-off text)

v0.3.0
*30.08.25*

v0.3.0

  • 100% of the main story (voiced lines) in Iira the Golden Country has been retranslated
  • Numerous fixes in the Iira DLC's story dialogues (typos, missing punctuation, cut-off text)
  • Restored some localized names that were still left in.
Future patches will focus on polishing the dialogue by fixing typos, cut-off text, and phrasing issues. The main story of Iira the Golden Country, all characterization scenes, and mandatory quests have already been fully retranslated. Side quests that aren’t tied to the story or characterization will only receive partial fixes, as they don’t affect the main narrative.

Future patches will also focus on re-translating the Blade Quests from the main game.

Thank you so much for your hard work on this!

I was wondering, do you think you could compile all of the delocalized cutscenes onto youtube? I do not want to replay the entire game currently but would love to watch the cutscenes with a more faithful japanese translation.

Thanks again!

Thbaks for your hard work. A small doubt: if now both the main game and DLC is translated why not consider a V1.0 release? Seems pretty much done.

Hi, I just came across this, but I'm confused on something. Is this just a translation of the original names for characters, attacks and places or is this also a retranslation of the entire story's dialogue to be more accurate? I've checked the comments and patchnotes but it doesn't seem to be the case and only seems to focus on names.

The entire main story and bonding scenes - both in the base game and the Iira DLC - have been fully retranslated from scratch. All character names, lore, and terminology have been restored to their original forms. Many side quests have also been retranslated, though there are still quite a few left to cover.

It’s definitely too early for a 1.0 release. A lot of side quests that are quite important - especially the Blade stories - still aren’t retranslated. There are also still places where text gets slightly cut off (though I’m hoping with each update I’m getting closer to eliminating that issue), and I’m sure there are still some typos left here and there. So for now, I don’t think a proper 1.0 is close yet.

2's translation is perfectly fine. Anyone quibbling over some extremely minor nitpicks is just being utterly pedantic to the point of lowering the quality of discussion about localization.

It's hard to talk about games that're actually getting fucked over, because the discussion gets poisoned with people like you who say "They re-wrote the entire lore!" An absolutely insane hyperbole that can't be justified on any level.

If you dislike the names being changed, that's fine, I do too. But the actual localization is perfectly fine and outright thoughtful, it's well done. Most of the changes are things like "The West doesn't have the Legend of the 4 Beasts, so we'll replace those with other mythical beasts. Seiryu being a bird becomes Roc, and Byakko being associated with the Welsh/Gormotti becomes Dromach." That's clever, it's thoughtful.

Same as Hikari -> Mythra. Which keeps the connection to Light and keeps the idea of her being connected to divinity, AND it ties in perfectly with "Aegis", which is about 10,000x better than calling them "The Holy Heavenly Grail" (There's 3 of them I guess lol) like obnoxious, utterly pretentious localization purists like you want.

Came here just to say this.

Won't someone think of the poor localizers? 😭

This is definitely the same OP that also made a thread in /v/ about the subject a couple of days ago. Absolutely pathetic. Enjoy your jelly donuts in peace, mate.

Idk if someone already said this, but there is something that i wanted to point out.
The "titans", in japanese, are called 巨神獣,Kyoshin-jū (lit. Giant Divine Beasts, which is the name used in this translation), but it's pronunced as アルス, Arusu/Als, which compound the name of Alrest in japanese, アルスト, Arusuto, Alst in this translation.
I can understand that you probably prefer to show the name original meaning, and that you can't get both because of how different a logographic and ohonetic system are, making this type of stuff "untranslable", still i wanted to point it out.(als sorry for my english, it's not my first language).

Was planning to play Xenoblade since I'm done with Xenosaga now and came upon your delocalization mods by accident. Thank you so much for making these, must have been a truly herculean effort.

Been lurking for a while now, saw some of the worse-er parts of the flaming that occurred. I don't come here with the intent to troll, but I just want to offer my two cents: It's hard to translate and localize something. There's cultural nuances that have to be adapted, names and terminology that has to be changed. Localization is more involved than just translating words and transcribing names. These people have to come up with names that make sense in all of their target languages at the same time.

At the same time, I understand the opposite point of view. I'm very acutely aware of political correctness and unnecessary censorship. I hate it as much as anybody else. But that doesn't mean all localization is instantly terrible. Can we at least concede that a 1:1 version of the original script doesn't always work? That's not only unfeasible, if done it would make the script clunky as Hell. Not to mention some things only working in one language or another. Any good localizer would translate something so that it's understandable while keeping similar meaning.

Let's all try and be respectful of each other's preferences. Be good people, forum-goers, and don't blindly dismiss those who prefer the localization patch.

Downloaded the mod btw
Honestly, it’s kind of hilarious to see someone write a passive-aggressive lecture about 'let’s be respectful,' while the post itself is dripping with condescension. You’re asking for respect in the same breath as you show basically none to the original creators and their culture.

And no, I’m not going to 'concede' that heavy alteration is some noble necessity. Changing names, swapping cultural context, sanding off edges, or censoring anything because 'it won’t land in the target language' is basically rewriting. In 2025 we have more exposure to other cultures than ever - people can handle unfamiliar honorifics, jokes, or social norms. Treating the audience like they’re too fragile or too clueless to understand the source material is the narrow-minded part (and for some reason it affects almost exclusively Japanese culture). It shrinks the work into whatever the localizer thinks is 'acceptable,' and that’s bad on principle.

Name changes especially are a huge red flag. Replacing them to 'make sense everywhere at once' is basically telling the author their choices don’t matter. Let's not forget about extreme dissonance (hearing different names and reading made up ones). That’s not translation, that’s cultural flattening. Same with any form of censorship. It doesn’t 'help comprehension,' it just removes what someone decided you shouldn’t see. Call it what it is - vandalism of the original text. If you want to write your own story, write your own story. Don’t slap your values and culture over someone else’s and call it a service.

Also, forgive me if I don’t buy the 'Downloaded the mod btw' line. You just spent most of your post arguing that heavy altering is necessary and that faithfulness is unrealistic - which is literally the opposite of what this patch stands for. So either you didn’t download it, or you did and completely missed the point.

People can prefer whatever they want, sure. But don’t demand respect while defending the disrespectful practice of gutting someone else’s work and culture to fit a checklist. Respect starts with the source.

*16.11.25*

v0.3.2

  • Fixed hundreds of typos and cut-off text issues across both the main game.
  • Corrections applied to all types of dialogue and text boxes.
  • Fixed all remaining occurrences of "Zekenator"
Thank you so much for your continued work in the Retranslation mod! I remember the joy that I had when I got to replay through the entire story in JP dub with the proper subtitles, while trying to collect the Bonding Talks between each member of the party. In fact, recently I had finally completed my playlist of every Main Story Bonding Talks (plus Bonding Talks with Suzaku, Wadatsume and Hana JD).

Here is the link for those that don’t have time to replay the entire game, but are curious to see how the original Bonding Talks play out. I should warn you that these Bonding Talks were recorded when the game was at version 0.2.5, so there will likely be typos that don’t exist in the latest version.

Here once again, It seems there was a heated debate about Localization changes a few post above
Man, I don't understand how there still people who defend the practice of changing names on products that aren't from our side
that practice honestly should had died long ago with the bankrupcy of 4Kids and all that Yu-Gi-Oh legal problem they got themselves before closing
Not helping that even when they fell, Saban tried to continue the practice with Pretty Cure in changing the name of the series to Glittler Force (using Smile Precure) as well as losing some episodes, and others outright ending up being 13 minutes in lenght due to how much Saban editors tried to erase its Japanese aspects

I'm all for Mods that restore the original names myself, and better if those are also retranslations
Continue your work on this @rsc-pl , you are doing what should have been done from the very beginning here
and it's a shame Nintendo its still one company that still practice creative changes on their games
the worst examples, coming from Fire Emblem Engage and Fire Emblem Fates/IF a few years ago
ohh, and let's not forget the dissapointment on them using the censored release for Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore
