Hacking Xecuter and FW Update Question

Hello!

I'm curious about something. If Team Xecuter is working on a Modchip that will supposedly work on any FW version, then would it be alright to update in anticipation for that? I know some would rather wait for CFW for free by staying on specific FW, rather than have to spend on a Modchip, but if I were to be able to choose, would updating and waiting for the chip be a good idea, or should I just wait for CFW and all?

PS. This reminds me of when I chose to mod my PS3 Fat cause I didn't want to wait for the super slim mod to be released. after a few months, it's finally out. I felt silly for buying the Fat version, but I just didn't know how soon the files would come out. Maybe the Switch stuff will be similar to that, is what I'm hoping for. But hey, I now have a Super Slim and Fat

Some people are saying they're never going to release their chip, but it is TX after all, they're not known for backing out.
Wait for CFW for now, you might not have very long to wait. TX' chip could still be a ways away and still requires opening your Switch and voiding the warranty.

Yardie got a point , i am the part of people which believe they wont release anything TXs Future Proof Exploit got doomed with 5.0 now if they have an Bootrom Exploit it might work with this Switch Generation but not with the Future one starting Summer 2018.

and its not the first time TX Backed out see PS4 Hack and Xbox One Hack both where promised but never released

Let's look at it from a logical perspective:
So far, we have no information from Xecuter besides they were held up due to Chinese new year.
Alright fine, so with that info (which is not a petty excuse, my father owns a business that struggles around Chinese New Year all the time), we have no idea if they will actually release.
The safe route is to wait on 4.1 or whatever you are on for CFW. If you want to access online and/or eShop (not sure if there are workarounds yet) then you should update to 5.0.

On the other hand, you might want to wait for Xecuter. Xecuter has a hardware chip/mod that allows you to access the bootROM. There is no way for Nintendo to protect their firmware from a hardware based attack. Think of it as deleting partitions on a computer. Windows (or Linux) can deny you access to the hardware partitions completely. There is no way without a 3rd party application to access it (which even then won't let you reformat certain partitions). But if you boot from a USB stick, you can edit, change, or erase all the partitions you want because Windows isn't operating yet. It is safe to say that this kind of hardware mod will not be fixed via Firmware. The custom firmware they release with it (or that somebody makes to go with it) might need to work around the 5.0 KASLR and whatever other security measures they implemented, but the hardware need not be changed/adapted. We know that Nintendo is planning at least a SoC revision for the Switch, which might render Xecuter's chip useless for future models of the system (notice, hardware models, not firmware models). Therefore, if you already have a Switch, you can be 99% certain that your Switch will be compatible with X's chip (assuming they release, which they most likely will).

Not sure if you heard this but team xecuter posted about what's going on with their mod chip, said they have prototypes and are refining them now, basically I think by what has been said they're glitching in



If that's the case, that could prove troublesome for the 214 SoC



As it stands now we will never be able to look at the TZ implementation in the new hardware revision



But we can still dump and look at the rest of the firmware



That's what all the devs are doing now, why everyone is so quiet lol

theres still no confirmation that they will release this anytime soon or how expensive it will be best to wait on a low firmware and wait for a softmod method

Waiting for a release is gonna be torture.
With DNS stuff blocked, I pretty much cant do anything online. I dunno why. It works for my Wii U and 3DS. I can online fine, but not with the switch, I get errors.
The Switch from my experience so far also has horrid wifi. I can't connect to the router unless I'm within like, 20 inches of it. So I can't be in my room while doing stuff even if I could use the internet. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get wifi to work while using the DNS thingy, as well as how to get a stronger signal without tinkering with my router?
