actually I like this idea. Word on the DS would be quite nice. Though it'd be a bit slow typing in it, I can see documents without images opening and such. So that'd be cool.

a PDF view too...but probably wouldn't work.

Actually, I find it a bit odd how there isn't a decent word processor on the DS already. DSOrganize doesn't do it for me.

There is a pre dldi one called DS Text Editor made by the author of DS organize that was pretty good at the time.

Blargh although I have not used it:

txtwriter:

Also DSLinux has a port of Vi and a port of nano which probably provide the best route.

I do not recall any offhand but there are several Japanese text apps that given how often we get "text reader for the DS requests" (OK not as often as what flash cart? but enough to take note) probably deserve more exposure. Whether they feature any editing ability I could not say.

It has to be said though for a text heavy language group like C? trying to "type" it on the DS would be an exercise in frustration. Not to mention there is no real chance of a compiler.

Not strictly related but

python:

There are a handful of BASIC interpreters too as well as some of the more esoteric languages.

I'm really wondering why programs that can open txt files can't open rtf files. They just read tags, like html, and use that information to alter the text, right?
Come to think of it, you rarely find ttf programs, either. DSReader tells me it's possible, so maybe that could be a good startup project: Font family, font size, and font colour of selected text. The ability to open files of any extension, provided they aren't too big.

This is an old thread, but I really want a good text editor that I can use on my AK2i. In Blargh I get stuck with the file browser open and I can't figure out how to close it or save/load my work.

Dse Notepad can save files fine, but it won't open my files.
WordDS seems to work in html.
DSOrganize doesn't work on the DSi.

I'm trying out txtwritter now, but it didn't load a second ago. I'll try again now.

Edit: Nope, txtwritter seems to load to white screens on my AK2i. Not sure why.

why did you bump a tread from 2009 to ask a question you could have answered for yourself with just a few quick google searches... not to mention going through the extensive homebrew archive at filetrip.
