Holy crap! I opened up my Wii and it did turn out to be D2B, but I DON'T have cut legs! I'm happier than before. So, now that I know for certain I have a D2B without cut legs, I can get the Wlip model 1, right? So should I use my OpenWii (ATMEGA8L) or Wiikey with it?

That's good news! What serial number was on your Wii?

LU31633****.
My old D2C that I sent back was LU31928****

LU31633****.
really? mine is LU31603****, so it should also be uncut legs, right? On the nintendo-scene serial # tracker thing it said mine is probably D2B with 96% chance of cut legs

edit: I checked again and it said:

Your Drive Chip is most likely GC2-D2B.

Your Drive Pins are most likely cut.

Yeah, when my triwing comes I'm definitely opening my Wii just to check if it is indeed d2b cut legs.

In any case, anyone have a model b Wlip and want to sell it to me?

Hmm.. so far no dice with the Wlip - we think the pins aren't quite connecting, but we have the Wiikey soldered on it perfectly. Just playing around with the positioning of the wlip pins now. Tis going to be a long night.. (cut pins)

O, I saw something on the wlip site about that. They said something about pressing down on something as a last resort. I cant remember exactly what they said but check the site.

Nope - several tries it's not working. The pins on this Wlip seemed odd.. I wonder if somehow it was a lemon? I e-mailed the Wlip team with no response yet. I installed a Wiikey and it's perfectly soldered on. It will not work no matter what I try. /sigh

Hmm.., hope you get a reply from them. That would stink if you spent 50 bucks on something that doesnt work..

Or maybe the Wii Tracker site is missing info with our type of serials and they provide incorrect info.

Anyways, I plan on checking what it is soon, but I don't have a triwing...

Well, since the Wlip model B won't work with MY Wii (cut legs), I'm willing to sell the Wlip with the Wiikey attached to it to someone if they would like to try it on theirs. $30 takes the Wlip with the Wiikey. Just shoot me a message.

Edit: It's now gone. Thanks to those who replied.

Sure you didn't solder the WiiKey worng on?
One wire soldered wrong would make it not work.

The pins on my Wii are really wonky looking, unlike regular cut pin Wiis. They look very irregular. That could very well be the problem. Either way, he got it for cheaper than off of DiscoAzul plus an added bonus.
