with wireless connections, you need to get your computer on the access controll list (ACL) if your computer is not on the ACL it wont connect simple, to connect to a network you need the SSID (network name of the connnection your connecting to) and the network key, most routers use wpa-psk as WEP is easy hackable. most routers have 3 states when you can connect to the ACL
1 new station are aloowed auto
2 no new stations are allowed on on registration
3 no new stations are allowed
I always have mine on option 2 or 3 as it stops people from hacking your connection as for option 2 your would need click the register button on the actual router to get the computer connected on the ACL.
other than that if you cant connect drop the security, connect to the router then put the security back up, then check for available devices on the network (wifi), to make sure next door or someone outside your house hasnt connected to your netwrok, that should get your computer on the ACL.
