So I just downgraded my brothers 10.3U O3DS to 9.2U using SafeSysUpdater using Menu Hax (His was the very first one I've ever downgraded)! Here were my steps because I know people always ask what others did, and I like being helpful:

I first reformatted the 3DS so that is was all factory settings (I did not reformat the SD Card).
I then installed Menu Hax via Ninjhax. (I used Type1 setting for it to run because I rather hold a button to start HBL)
I then downloaded the 9.2U FULL Update CIA Pack from that iso site.
I then moved SafeSysUpdater.3dsx into /3ds/SafeSysUpdater/ (I had to create the folder since it wasn't in there)
I then copied the 9.2U Full Update CIA Pack into a folder called "updates" on the root of my SD card.
I then inserted the SD card into the 3DS and started Menu Hax and started SafeSysUpdater.
I had my WiFi turned on and pressed "A" to verify the MD5's of each of the files (All were Good to go!)
Once that was done, I finally pressed "Y" to downgrade the 3DS.
I made sure my 3DS was plugged in and I didn't press anything while the process was taking place.
The downgraded finished and it didn't restart in ten seconds like it says, but it does say if it doesn't to just PowerOff if it takes longer than then seconds, so I did.

And viola! I went into System Settings and I was a Firmware 9.2.0-20U!

I haven't checked to see if Browserhax works, (or anything else for that matter) but it does turn on, which is a huge plus.


I'll be buying my brother a bigger SD Card so that he can then do whatever he wants to with his 3DS!

EDIT:
So I managed to try some different hax and Ninjhax works perfectly but browserhax does not. Everytime I try to run browserhax it gives me an error and force closes the browser. Could it of not downgraded with the rest of the files?

hi i have probleme with my 3ds i try to downgrad it from 10.2 to 9.2 the sysapdater start downgrad and after installing native_firm and the second cia file ops the 3ds shotdown and wont start the i use the hard mod to get nand.bin thi is my question is there programe to install cias file manualy or with hexa mod thanks

Thats why you plug your 3ds in..... *sigh* If you want to hard mod your 3ds just google 3ds hard mod. There should also be guides here on the forum :)

If it says hax sucess, isn't it supposed to be done? I mean, trying again shouldn't be the first thing that come in mind, you're prob. either fucked (with partial downgrade and unable to launch game/browser and payloads won't work) or good to go i guess :P

Well, like a minute or so? More than that seems pointless... Mine also didn't rebooted (it said something like "it's completed, rebooting in 10 seconds", but never rebooted) so i just powered it off (sucessfully downgraded)

So im currently trying to check the integrity of my CIAs, but it failed on one of the CIAs. I downloaded the firmware from that ISO site (I am pretty sure it's the correct one since this is where I downloaded the update firmware of my previously and successfully downgraded o3ds and o3dsXL).

I also deleted the CIA file mentioned here

i have the same error on 0004001000020900.cia, 10.3 JPN n3ds

EDIT: In case you didn't find any answers, download the 9.0 from that iso site. it actually is the 9.1
don't forget to delete that specific .cia aswell

worked for me 3rd try on safesysupdater

Thanks for the info, will try it now. Might also ask you a few questions just incase :D

Which specific CIA again? are you saying the one that's giving error which is "0004001000020900" or this one "000400102002CA00" ?

Edit: Can anyone confirm that "000400102002CA00.cia" is really inside the 9.0.0-20J(Full)_n3DS.zip? I'm trying to look for it so I can delete it but it's not there. Just want to ask before proceeding.

Successfully downgraded my N3ds XL 10.3 JPN to 9.1. Thanks to @joex11 for giving me the information about the 9.0 update files. Checked with downgrade checker too and It's a successful downgrade as per the homebrew Yey!! Now, will install emunand, a CFW (I guess reinand for N3DS yeah? would appreciate a link on how to set it up but I'll try to search too). I would like to do region change on my emunand too, but I think that will be as my last thing on my to do list.

N3DS XL Hyrule Edition. Clean install 9.9.0-26U.

Installed Menuhax using Browserhax since I don't have any US gamecards to launch HBL with.

Safesysupdater ran first time. Part way through installing it flagged up the 3DS black error screen. >.< Boots into home menu fine. Can't access Settings or web browser. >.< Guess I'll need a game card unless I just update to 10.5, which I would prefer not to do.

If I got a US copy of OoT, could I access HBL through that and complete the downgrade using sysupdater or upgrade to another firmware with Sysupdater and downgrade again? o.0

sorry just saw your question about the cia now, thank god you got the right one.
as for reinand, just use gateway to format emunand, then setup reinand.

I'm interested in changing the region too, but that's the last thing for me as well. if you find any good tutorial let me know.

btw, to get gateway emunand is: backup your sd card, download gateway files, put launcher and 3ds folder on your sd card root, then use anyhax to access homebrew channel and open gateway. format emunand, put files once again on sd card and have fun

As far as I know, you have to set up oot3dhax using an other hack method (such as ninjhax, browserhax, menuhax, etc).. (You only have to do this once).. What it does to set up the oot3dhax method is it writes a modified (hacked) save file to one of the slots for the zelda game.. That is the hard thing about setting up oot3dhax: getting the hacked save file written..

In the starter-kit archive file for homebrew-launcher, there is actually a homebrew app in there called "sploit_installer-oot3dhax" or some thing like that, so you should see it as soon as you are in the homebrew launcher with out having to install it seperately.. It automates much of the process of setting up the oot3dhax.. But to use it you need to have an internet connection (only once) so it can download the correct zelda save file for your type of system, and you need to have the zelda game its self..
