First things first, on N3DS as of now we can only load up vanilla FIRM images, we haven't quite done any patching on that one yet because extra encryption (and whatever barrier lies beyond 9.5 will still apply, but 9.5 botched their encryption so we'll be able to go up that far). But in terms of doing the swap, you'll either need a donor N3DS or you'll need to sacrifice eShop access.

Can we confirm if KARL3DS would be able to launch an Emunand from a different region? (i.e. I have a JPN n3DS, would it be possible to use a NA Emunand?).
I'd prefer English more than Japanese for my system's language, because JP firm doesn't have furigana.

So like, if we include our verifyrsasha256 patch we can theoretically support region changing. You wouldn't be able to use a pre-existing NAND image, though. Leaving this patch in, though, is kinda sketchy since it disables SO many checks. Maybe we'll patch cfg to remove just the secureinfo_a checks on that side. Who knows at this point.

I am sure this question has already been asked. But will this work on new3ds jap 8.1. I am asking becuase of the issue of not having a browser. I have a sky3ds could I get cubic ninja on their and exploit that or do I actually have to use a japanese game cart of it?

No, it won't unless you have a cubic ninja cart already with the exploit, and even that is dodgy/unconfirmed.

Why not just back up the nand using gateway 3.0.x launcher and use the backup as a base for your emunand? Then just update the emunand. This way it retains the tickets for installed titles among other things.

Sounds fair to me. I have a US N3DS XL on 9.0 ready to use as a donor to make my JPN N3DS on 8.1 a US console. THE DREAM IS COMING TRUE!

... I also hope for a guide on how to do this region switch with a donor console to come out, but at least we know it's possible!

Smea says that having a pre-exploited CN won't work, that Ninjhax needs to use the browser every time it runs (not just for the setup).

yes - but nintendo should (they might not) block online access for those ids, just ban them permanently. (like header ids)

they would most likely be banned from eshop etc....so you would need someone who doesnt care that their console will get banned.....plus idk exactly how the online play works on the 3ds, but i assume the console ID would also be used for that....so for offline only region free FW's public secureinfo_A files would be fine, but if you want online and eshop etc you would want a private one (and probably best not go online with both systems at the same time

Barring any issues with save encryption (eg sysnand is 4.x and you update to 9.x on emunand) it should work. All the info needed to access data on your SD card is still there because that's stored on the nand that you just cloned and are using for emunand.

Have you confirmed whether or not the donor needs to be a New 3DS specifically?

Like transferring Ambassador status to emunand? Yeah, that will work. You are just cloning the system's nand and reading it off the SD card instead so everything is exactly the same (but optionally updated to latest FW) as far as the system is concerned.

If you meant doing a system transfer to a new system? Then Ambassador status is carried over to the new 3DS unit. (I've done it before a few times. RIP my original Aqua 3DS)
