I downloaded MadWorld which is in a 'rar' file. I opened the 'rar' file and there is a file called 'MADWORLD(compress).iso' which has file type of 'WinRAR Archive'. I tried extracting it but when it reaches 100%, it says "unable to extract could not read file type" and when I try to drag the file out, it says "drag and drop failed". Anyone know why this is happening and how I can successfully extract the file?

Is it just one single rar file or is there multiple ones? Sometimes rar downloads also come with an sfv file so you can verify checksums. At a guess I'd say the file is damaged.

You could also try opening the file in 7-zip to see.

It's just a single file called MADWORLD(compress).iso. Isn't it odd that a WinRAR Archive file type has an extention of .iso? Also, I downloaded "Klonoa" and I got the same file type and the same thing happend

If its a ISO file, either load it on a harddisk using WBFS Manager or burn a dvd using Imgburn and then use it on the wii with a backup loader.

I'm trying to extract the ISO file, but it's not extracting

Winrar can be used to extract iso files also, but you don't want to do that. An iso file is an image of a cd or dvd. So yea, you either want to burn it to disk or use WBFS manager.

Why do u want to extract the iso?

The compressed iso will not extract using normal ISO loaders on a PC. I tried with power iso and it gave me errors.

Do you have a WBFS Hard drive or can you burn a DVD?

How do you plan to play the game on the Wii?

By burning it on a DVD

The (compressed) ISO is in a rar file. I'm going to have to extract the ISO on my PC for ImgBurn to see and read the ISO as ImgBurn can't read or open rar files. Am I right? And if I am, then that's my problem. WinRAR is unable to extract the ISO on my PC for ImgBurn to read it.
P.S. I have ImgBurn. I've succesfully burned an ISO to a DVD in the past but that was not a compressed ISO and WinRAR succesfully extracted it

Google Imgburn, install it. Then load the iso file in the app, stick in a blank dvd and burn it.

Hmm, yeah do this.

I had mentioned it in my earlier responses.

Oh no. Back to square 1.

Yes. If Winrar or 7-Zip dont let you extract the iso from the rar file, then it should be a corrupt/damaged file. You might have to redownload it or get it from another source.

Are you sure that it isn't passworded? or you could try extract without confirmation
Dont just burn the iso, because if it wasnt compressed winrar would give an unknown or damaged error and wouldnt even attempt to extract it..

Ok. Thanks for the help

Try opening the file using winrar, then right click on the file and select, Test archived files and see what message you get.

QUOTE(dbest @ Jul 5 2009, 10:00 PM) Let us know how you go about fixing it.
Followed Tanas's advice and extracted the ISO from the rar file without conformation, successfully. ImgBurn can read it. Now, all that's left is to see if it can burn successfully. Thanks for your help guys

P.S. I tested the archived file and I got the message: "No errors found during test operation".
