Gaming windows 7 stuck on classic theme

this really bugs me. my laptop has been stuck on windows classic as the theme and i have tried numerous things to fix it. in the control panel all of the other themes are greyed out. can anyone help? thanks in advance.

There's probably a program that can only work with that theme I guess...
Did you install any programs lately?

you may need to reinstall your graphic driver, Aero rely on GPU, classic rely on CPU for rendering.

His issue is with windows 7, yes he could reinstall Windows 7 and most likely fix his issue

i have a repair disc for windows 7, anything i could do with that to avoid a complete reinstall?

go to start and in the search box type in "index"
you should find a result "check the windows experience index" and run the test after you should get the aero back.

check if dwm is running

i have had aero running and dwm is running according to task manager

Check if the Theme service is running. START/ CONTROL PANEL/ ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS/ SERVICES, make your way down the list to THEMES then right click, select PROPERTIES, then select STARTUP TYPE then select AUTOMATIC.
Now apply and ok your setting and reboot PC.

when i run the aero troubleshooter it brings up a window saying this theme cannot be applied to the desktop. choose a different theme.

Had the same problem on my computer. I ran TDSSKiller.exe from KAspersky labs and all my problems went away.

is it a virus? that probably explains things
