I know this is not a contribution, but I do not find a discussion forum about the operating systems, specifically Windows 10.

But I want to share something unusual that happened to me with this OS. Some time ago I did not update my OS W10 because I found the updates very heavy, I had to reinstall W10 with a somewhat old version that I had saved because my partitions were somewhat messy to such an extent that the partition of the system was secondary or son partition, having 40GB and I could not extend it since the biggest partition was the Father. Reinstall Windows 10, but sometimes I had problems with the low capacity of my RAM (I damaged a slot and use a single 2GB) and had to turn it off and turn it on some icons did not appear, some functions were obsolete, such as notifications, the Windows button, the Windows 10 applications. But the most unusual thing was this.

I do not even know what the last partition says. I never believed that my Tablet had a storage memory Hidden ha ha. The best came later when refreshing the browser tab ..

Good. This was before updating my Windows, since on those days Windows 10 presented me with a pop-up window that required me to update the OS to the most recent version (almost 6GB).

This when it was updated for about 4 hours ... it seemed that it had improved the performance when updating, very well !.

But ... when reviewing some of the folders in the root of the System, those folders created by Windows 8 and 10 when re-printing a new OS in a partition with files inside. Yes, Windows Old ... I went to look at that folder and ... they WERE NOT !. All the files inside had disappeared :( more than 90GB ... with music files for SFX and resources for my Video Game Engines ... They left! I had to investigate if it could be recovered, and I came to a program called Recuva, which it specializes in recovering data not indexed in the Hard Disk.

Unfortunately, when doing the process, the files were already illegible :( The Audios with severe problems on the tracks, as if they were scratching a board with sharp nails ... uh, charmingly horrible.

Well, that spine can not, because Microsoft will not be responsible for this misdemeanor.

Messy data organisation, near full disks and Windows update don't go well together.

From what I could tell, you experienced data corruption, and honestly, the best you could do is to start anew.

Backup as much data as possible, then wipe your HDD and repartition the disk properly.

I’m going with Windows 10 and MacOS. MacOS on my MacBook works fairly smoothly for the most part considering it’s a 1.2Ghz CPU, and handles everything I need including light video editing. W10 on my desktop driving games and VMware with Wxp, W7, MacOS and WS2016 VMs for the various projects and tinkering I do when I’m not at work or playing games. And the wife’s Surface Pro works fairly smoothly with W10 too.
