Will the Switch 2 be Nintendo's first unhackable console?

Do you think the Switch 2 will be unhackable?

Maybe someone has already found an entry point for a softmod and has been holding it back for the Switch 2.

I'm curious to see if there will be an internet browser again.

If they use the same firmware, then our big advantage is that we already know it inside and out.

I believe that someone in particular still has an ace up their sleeve.

One of the best-case scenario would be that someone found a way to softmod the Switch 1 but didn't reveal it (because of the V1 hack and the hardmod), and so Nintendo potentially didn't patch it for the Switch 2, leaving the door open.

Then it would be smart to keep the method private ... On the other hand, it's bad for us.

"It's kind of strange that no other softmod has been found — or maybe it's just because no one wants to waste it."

"I think there's a Hello World in the first month, and I'm looking forward to exciting times here on GBAtemp."

I guess, as always, it's 'don't update'.

"The only reason I pre-ordered a Switch 2 is to have a better chance of getting one with a lower firmware version... I won’t update until a game comes out that blows me away and forces me to."

As much as I hope it to be the case too I don't think folks at ReSwitched would lie about how secure HOS is and has been for a long time as there is really no reason to.

I hope the game prices will encourage more people into hacking it. Nintendo's lost their way, they used to be reliable in delivering a system that you could easily run backups on... I never even got a Switch, what about all the hardware sales they're not making, probably hurt them a lot. 🙄

It's never the game price. It's the same as increasing more tariff on Chinese goods being just a joke. It's already high enough that no more Switch 2 will be coming from China.

I have preordered. It will stay in its box until the homebrew scene becomes interesting. If that never happens, oh well. I won't have to buy the next nintendo console

Plan A is to play only Donkey Kong Bananza, avoid all update after this and wait, I have enough game on PC and all the rest....
I did the same with the first switch and Mario Odyssey.
I just hope Switch 2 hack story will not only be just about modchips thats all... if not it will be plan B where I only choose to play good exclusive game (or really good sales port maybe) on it and buy them only when it's a good deal (certainly not at 70-90 euros without DLC each time FCK OFF!) .

The Wii Mini was considered unhackable for a long time, as most entrypoints used for the main Wii were removed in the whole Miniaturisation aspect.
But some crafty people still found a way in despite that.

I imagine the same will hold true for Switch 2.

Who Knows? the RCM of switch was a lucky one, i think at all the poors Switch2 that will be abused with any kind of malformed data in any way (sd/net/usb) to find out an useful entrypoint

I'm sure it will be hacked at some point, but it won't have the ease of what Switch had going for it. The flaw Switch had was the same one with every device using the off-the-shelf Tegra X1, including the Pixel C. ReCovery Mode is something documented by Nvidia for the purpose of recovering from bricks with the Nvidia Shield TV. We were even told by hackers years ago that Switch's Horizon OS was so secure that, had it not been for that initial flaw, they'd probably still be poking at the "wall" looking for an opening. I don't know how the hardmods came about for Switch, but I would not be surprised if their work was based on that initial flaw, and working from the inside out.

Switch 2 is already in a scenario that doesn't involve that initial flaw Switch had. It may have something else, but Nvidia is not likely to make any recover information public for a custom SoC like they had with their off-the-shelf SoC used in their own products. It could take years before something comes about.

I had initially planned to get 2x Switch 2 systems, keeping one on its first FW just in case something were to come up, but now, I don't know.

Their entire explanation on this exploit contradicts itself on multiple occasions and is coming from an account with zero source or past history.
