Hacking Will running DS games without flashcard ever be possible?

Highly unlikely. The demand isn't there for developers to attempt it, and even if there was, what is the alternative? .CIA files for nds games? That won't happen, that's probably impossible.

So no, 99% no.

Come on man, you can get a flashcard for less then €10,- that supports all games at a stable framerate.

i have a ds flashcart but i gotta admit. running ds games off of a "CIA NDS Launcher" sounds really nice.
but i don't think it's possible though.(it may be possible since we basically have the same thing for the wii)

i like the idea ,i have a dstwo and a GW but id like to be able to just leave my GW red card in and be able to run ds games, even if it was a red card only solution
it's just too much of a pain in the ass to convert to rxtoools and whatever else i would need to replace GW emunand and leave the dstwo in
id rather be able to just leave the GW red in and never have to remove it and be able to put whatever i want on the GW red msd, ds games 3ds games homebrew

This thread is already on thin ice. I can't see this going well, so as a warning to those who post here, keep it civil

Perhaps a form of emulators or loader in a .CIA which can be run and then you need to select the NDS rom?

maybe GW could do it for their red card where you would hit select, get the menu then you would load something from there, that would mount like a 3ds game or 3ds rom
and it would then put the red card into a ds card mode and you would launch it like a 3ds game from there

This has been discussed countless times. While not impossible (Theoretically), there is little to no point for someone to spend time developing it. DS games run on a 3DS with minimal effort currently. No one's going to spend the time to make it only slightly easier to run them.

Why not?

Because it'll likely be a fairly difficult thing to do, and a DS flashcard is extremely cheap. Why should someone spend 100's of hours developing a way to run DS games through the homemenu, when the end result will shave maybe 10 seconds off of the time required to actually launch a game? It's adding nothing new to the system, so it's not likely that someone would want to spend the time to do it.

No need for it when native ds mode flash carts are dirt cheap. Plus even if it was possible the 3ds has a 300 game/app install limit that you would most likely want to use for 3ds games and not ds games, assuming you are using custom firmware and not a gateway 3ds. I just doubt anyone would be able to fix both all the 3ds games and all the ds games they like on the home menu with that 300 limit.

Sorry to stick my nose in this , but how can we make the old flashcards usable again ? I have an old acekard 2i just staring at me inserted in my dsi and as far as I heard, it was able to run on 3ds before a 4.x update

i think there is something called flashcard timewarp and update you ds card

I don't understand what is wrong with just using a flashcard for your DS games, if you've done enough to your 3DS then there will be no reason to ever put a different game card in aside from your flash card as it is (unless you need to do some debugging or whatever with the likes of Cubic Ninja). And given that the 3DS has a 300 title limit (or is it 350... whatever), and how many DS and 3DS titles that I personally have; installing the DS titles on my 3DS as .cia files wouldn't be beneficial as I'd run out of room. Now if that limit could be removed... yeah, I'd probably be a little interested in the ability to install DS titles to the menu screen. But as it stands it really isn't something I'm dying for. Plus the benefit of a second micro sd card being used strictly for DS titles ensures that I have more free space on the main micro sd card.

People don't want to pay money for anything at all and want everything for free, even if it is something as cheap as a ds flash cart and a 32gb micro sd card. Sometimes though you have to pay some money to be able to get things for free in the long run, at least in this case.

No one wants to pay for anything. Most of you have to keep that in mind when questions like this pop up. Sad world....
