Having trouble with my WiiU. I was planning on getting back into using it as an art tablet for making sketches but found it no longer is working correctly. The console loads to the game selection screen like normal but when selecting any software it freezes. I was able to press A+B+Start+Up during startup to bring up the system settings menu but that freezes too after choosing a setting.

I think what caused the problem is an external hard drive that I was using. I accidentally had the power unplugged on the external drive (and usb cable plugged into the game console) when I turned on the WiiU and found it not working.

Things I tried:

  • Removing external HD and SD card
  • Removing game disc
  • Disconnecting console power
  • Factory Reset in settings (froze before starting reset)
Nothing seems to work unfortunately. I been researching on Google about how to fix it and I might have to mod the console if I want to get this fixed. It seems a bit risky for the WiiU console and thought I would ask for opinions on GBATemp before deciding what to do for my WiiU.

I learned that I will need a raspberri pi for the process? I have a raspberri pi 3 and unsure if this mode is compatible.

Im new system modding and all the choices are confusing to me, all help is much appreciated, thanks.

Install ISFShax: https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-set-up-isfshax.642258/
You might have to use UDPIH if you can't launch anything and didn't have have it modded before.
You shouldn't do anything else until you have ISFShax installed.

Once you have ISFShax, go the the backup and restore menu and dump the sys crash logs and zip and upload the whole folder here.
