if it can play music via smb i will be extremely greatfull.

mplayer ce is coming along brilliantly as a media player, but is obviously focused on video, not music.

i just want a good solid music player for the wii that will play via smb. dont care about video, just want to browse to a folder shared on my main pc with all my music, and have it play, and skip to the next song, shuffle, repeat and an equalizer would be nice too

Yes it will be able to play SMB and it will be like ITunes were u choose were to set ur music/videos such as playlists u will be able to check ur folders on ur SD card
and also it will have an update button were it will check my server and look for updates and download via wifi

Hey! I think we need this!

One that supports high compacity usb drives is good! Last time I tried a few, they wouldn't detect my hard drives. =\ I think one great music player is what we need.

I'm a little skeptic about this.. But who knows. If this indeed is real I could lend you a hand with graphics maybe? And BTW, if you want to add iPod support, songbirds source code probably has all the necessary parsers for iPod database formats.. And if you want coverflow, better look at Coverfloader source or ask Hibern for Wiiflow's code. Now that would be fantastic.

Will this pulsate the drive light while playing? I always thought that was a cool feature of DMP...

I've been kind of yearning for a dedicated music player for some time. DMP is very good, but that project is dead and it no longer loads with my newer SDHC card.

I know the name is based of iPod, so it's logical if you can connect an iPod.
But does it support 'normal' mp3's too? I don't have an iPod >.

I mean the thingies you call MP3.
Not the files itself.
You know, those thingies, a portable music player? At least, we call them MP3...

Yeah, you're right.
Didn't thought of the word player. I always say 'my mp3', not mp3 player (or MP3 speler, cause I'm dutch

if you pull this off, ill heart you for eternity.

huh this looks like a cool sounding player. Will it be supporting more audio file types down the road or is that all you care to support? Or does it support all the others by the ect in your list of features I can't tell..... Either way I do hope it actually can read an Ipods library file correctly to organize the music with the correct names displayed. Otherwise each song has a 4 charecter ID.......
