You can leave the yellow light mode on.... Unlike most people I READ my instruction booklets. Look, Nintendo does NOT force updates to your system. They are not the secret police and are the most trustworthy company I've ever dealt with and I should know... I know a Nintendo rep or two. Anywho, if you have WiiConnect24 on, you are simply wii-mailed/given a message when it's time to update. That message usually has a link button to start the update. Simply 1) ignore that message or 2) open the message and immediately TRASH it. and NEVER go to the Wii System Update option from the Wii Options screen unless you read somewhere that the next update is safe. ...Nuff said =

are you serious bout the custom case... That's poo! I was seriously considering getting one. I even asked a ninty service guy to see if there was a way I could buy one from a third party and then pay ninty to have it installed...not voiding my warranty... dude was basically like "Nintendo does not offer that service". They should really consider offering that service... that would be more money in their pocket. Anywho, thanks for that tad bit of info. About the standby mode thing...I wasn't trying to sound like an ass but there are too many noobs who honestly act like Nintendo is out to get them with secret updates -n- stuff

I hate that type of attitude... Oh well back to watching the Presidential race... I'll drop back in the forums in the next few minutes

I don't like how my Wii system is warm to the touch when it is in Standby mode, so I have both WiiConnect24 and Standby turned off.

As for being worried about Nintendo doing something to your Wii, I wouldn't worry about it.

Only the standby connection will cause the Wii to become warm. You can leave WiiConnect24 on with no affect.

I only installed half of my custom case so that it lights up in the dark. Its the motherboard side that gets the hottest and not the DVD side.
