Hey y'all, I've recently gotten a hold of a Wii U that was deemed to be broken. When I got it, it was factory reset and crashing when tapping on the Game Pad to continue the setup process. I figured that the NAND was failing and was planning on installing a NAND-aid. Once I got it, I noticed that the console was previously modded with Aurora, as it seemed that the payload-loader was auto launching still (I did not get an SD card with the system). However, while working on it i noticed that the dumps made by minute/minute were not pulling up ECC errors for the SLC. I decided to try and reinstall the MLC and SLC system files downloaded from NUS to the system memory using wafel_setup_mlc. I figured that maybe just a system file got corrupted and I could give it a shot if I was going to install the NAND-aid anyways. During the process, the power led was flashing orange as soon as it was working on the install. I left the system and when I came back it was powered off. The logs indicated to me that the install went through, but upon booting it up I now run into error 160-0101. I've attached the log and a screenshot of the error.

The autoboot title is set to the home menu. Researching this error I am under the impression that this is caused by missing vWii files, although I do not know if this assertion is correct. What I want to try doing is install the vWii files using wafel_setup_mlc. Is this possible? If not, there are a few ideas I have in mind;
  • I made a backup of the opt and seeprom before messing around with anything, and I also have multiple backups of SLC before and after I installed ISFS. However I only have one backup of the SLCCMPT, and that was before I installed ISFS. It was done at the same time as one of my SLC backups. This is the easiest route to take, but I want to see if trying to reinstall the files is possible:P
  • I have access to UDPIH and it's recovery mode
  • If necessary, I feel comfortable defusing the Wii U to rebuild the SLCCMPT if I must
Additionally on an unrelated note, I have another Wii U that is crashing when trying to set the system clock. Is that a sign of NAND failure as well, or did something happen to the RTC circuitry? I haven't run into any other issues with the console while using it. Both consoles seems to have a Toshiba NAND

Any help/advice is greatly appreciated:)

Some of the titles failed to install. That's likely the reason why you are getting the 160-0101.
The Wii U can boot with ca completely empty slccmpt, it would only error if a Wii Disc is in the drive.

Sorry for the delay, I was busy for a bit but I was able to wipe the mlc and do a complete reinstall of the mlc and slc using wafel_setup_mlc and it started booting again! I was able to setup the console and use vWii Decaffeinator to reinstall the slccmpt. So far it seems like the Wii U is fully working.

Hi... can you share any tutorial or guide or reference on how to wipe the MLC and do the complete reinstall of the MLC and SLC using wafel_setup_mlc?
