Hacking WII U Pro Controller with WII Games?

Exactly. It's just silly that Vwii mode can't use the controller as a remapped classic controller if need be. Only Nintendo would do something this stupid.

Zacharybinx34. Typical h@t3r.

/thought you left cool guy?

I honestly think this must be possible, remeber the FC30 bluetooth controller? The thing got an update so that it works as a Wiimote (with extra buttons matched to specific waggle movements): http://gbatemp.net/threads/fc30-gets-an-update-and-becomes-a-wii-controller.356236/

Surely there must be a way to make the bluetooth Wii U pro controllers connect to the Wii in a similar manner, with the Wii recognizing the controller as a Wii Classic controller (pro). I'm sure its no simple feat, but I would think that other example should be proof enough that such a thing could happen.

Since FC30 accomplished this using the firmware of their controller I'd think the Wii U Pro Controller would need to have an upgradeable firmware that could be swapped out with homebrew firmware. Again, it would need to be a homebrew solution; I think a Nintendo solution would have been here by now.

The wiimote firmware was disassembled some time ago. I doubt we'll see much interest in cracking the Wii U Pro controller sadly.

If a dongle doesn't already exist to connect Pro/PS3 controllers to a wiimote as a classic controller, the most feasible homebrew solution I could think of would be some external app emulating a wiimote on a device with bluetooth and using that as a passthrough. Preferably with PS3 controllers through USB since I'd imagine the bluetooth relay would be laggy. It's a bit excessive to write a Wiimote emulator to just use more controllers on the console, but the thought of using a touchscreen for IR input on the Wii is intriguing. Plus Ii'd get way more use out of all the PS3 controllers I have lying around.

Sorry for the bump, but I would like to express as vocally I can how glorious would be to be able to make Wii U Pro act as a Classic Controller Pro in vWii mode.

Also, it blows my mind that NOBODY has contacted Tueidj asking him how he enabled Wii U Pro to Devolution.

This is not impossible to implement (just like Gamepad support for vWii) or technically very difficult.

This feature must have been the No 1 hombrew development right now.

EDIT: Upon some investigation I came across this thread with some VERY USEFULL info for anyone interested.

My impression is that no homebrew developers interested in this are capable of accomplishing this. Your best bet is to beg mayflash or other chinese companies to produce a bluetooth adapter for the Wiimote that connects to a Wii U Pro controller.

I highly doubt something like this would be in the works. It'd certainly add a lot of input lag to have a Bluetooth adapter convert the signal in between the console and the controller. Unless a sophisticated homebrew/cIOS hack allows Wii U Pro Controller inputs to be read as Classic Controller inputs, there's nothing to be done about this.

Really the only reason to want the Wii U Pro Controller to work in vWii is because of its ergonomic design that's very comfortable. I've hacked the guts of a broken Classic Controller inside a Wii U Pro Controller shell and it works beautifully. The required tools to do this hack are simple, but you'd end up sacrificing two perfectly good controllers to make one frankencontroller. Mostly it's using a dremel to cut the PCB and then solder your own cables to all contacts to retain functionality. Though, if you're willing to go down this road, you might as well go for an original GameCube controller and do the same, as shown here: http://forums.shoryuken.com/discuss...-controller-with-a-wii-classic-controller-pcb.

Eh, why not just buy this then?

Just bumping this

With the crazy support that Nintendont has its clear that homebrews can support the Pro Controller (along with MANY others)

Has there been any progress on getting them to work on the Wii side?

The reason Nintendont can support them is because Nintendont is an independent piece of software. To have the Wii U Pro Controller supported for Wii games, it'd be required to rewrite IOSes and that's extremely difficult as far as I understand. I couldn't find any projects trying to accomplish that either, so generally there's no progress towards having that functionality I'm afraid... :(
