with the $50 price drop coming for the Wii U, do you guys think nintendo will pull the same plan as the 3ds? for those of us who already have a wii u, a $50 drop AND the wind waker HD, i would really like to see a credit or maybe a download for the wind waker HD since it will be provided for new systems practically for free.

So you think they put all those years in the development of Wind Waker HD so they can give it away for free to everyone?

well they handed out games to 3ds owners that they still haven't released today. the wind waker HD was to help players not freak out about the next installment of zelda for taking so long to be developed.

Besides, they're desperate at this point to keep the system from failing

Same here, but I'm not gonna hold my breath since Nintendo isn't exactly known for being that charitable for early adopters.

Not really for free. It looks like to me they are including it instead of Nintendo Land. I could still see Nintendo doing something like the ambassador program because of the $50 price drop, but not likely.

They're doing the Wind Waker bundle thing because they need more people to buy consoles. For those who already have a console, they don't care about you anymore. They'll pocket their extra 50 bucks and hope you're nice enough to go buy yourself a copy of Wind Waker at full price knowing that you're not gonna get it any other way.

I would like to see it, maybe if we complain enough since we were the ones supporting them when no one else was.

if that ends up being the case, i'll gladly wait for a hack. hate to say it, but that's how I feel.

Since you will gladly wait for a hack, how would you be one that was supporting them in the first place.

Sometimes I think you say stupid stuff like that just to see who will argue with you.
Hopefully you will wait for the hack and be miserable all about it till it happens. In the mean time I will continue to enjoy my console and the games that come to it.
I won't reply to any reply of this message. Not worth any extra time.

I bought the system when they said sales were down because I care about my gaming companies.
If I wanted to argue I would argue, but that's how I feel if they want to treat the ones who bought early like shit.
especially dealing with that slow ass load time for months and sitting with a Wii U that had no games for months.
So yeah, I will wait if they act like we don't matter. I'd rather download wind waker HD if they don't at least acknowledge the fact that for a year people were paying more for the system when it had no games.

It has lots of games. I haven't finished a single game since launch and I got a bunch of them.

The only game keeping me playing is black ops 2 or whenever a new VC game that I like releases. otherwise I've beat all my other games that I wanted
well thats just your damn problem isn't it?
if you already beat all the games well play them in hard mode or 100% runs or speedruns. thats what i do when there's nothing to play on any console and im sure that almost anyone else does that too not just complain about stuff or wait for a hack

I bought my 3DS when it was $250 then months later a price drop caused the system to take flight I think it will be bit similar with the Wii U just not to the extent of the 3DS. In my opinion the Wii U is an amazing system with a lack of games. I have beaten the 5 games that I own for my Wii U and I look forward to Splinter Cell & Pikmin 3 next week when I pick them up. I don't see how anyone can hate on the Wii U but people complain about everything these days and can't be satisfied with anything. The Wii U and the ugly 2DS will do just fine, it will just take time.

Not me. If I beat a game once, I don't go back to it. Except for The Last Of Us. But that's because that game is nothing short of astounding.

"If you beat your games and are bored with the limited and terrible library selection for the Wii U it's YOUR FAULT that you're bored!"

Not even Chrono Trigger? You never went back to even try one of the 13 different endings that were available? *gasp* My heart... *breathe*

for me it depends on the games, most newer games don't have much replay value, but i can still go back to old SNES or NES games and play through them in a day or two. specifically ALTTP or SMRPG. I think super paper mario has the most plays from me in the last few years. or animal crossing and OOT3d. lately all I play is black ops 2, and that's when I have the chance and because it's easy access on the gamepad.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves

why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages

It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
