Hardware Wii u pad charging voltage

My nephew has a wii u but the charging cord for the pad was chewed up by a pet. I have a spare charging dock and am wondering if I can wire a usb 5.0v 1.5 amp phone charger to it.

The stock pad charger is [email protected], would [email protected] hurt the pad? It doesn't seem to me 0.25v would make/break a simple battery charging system but has anyone here tried it?

5V should be alright, it is within the 10% tolerance. But it is best that you get an official charger instead they ain't that expensive.

I spliced a USB cable to my third-party dock and power it with a phone charger (5V, 500mA). I've used the same phone charger with a USB to gamepad charger port cable as well. Works just as well with a 5V, 1.2A charger.

Most phone chargers should work as long as they're not over 1.6A. Lower amps might take longer to charge or get hot if you charge while playing.
