@Zhongtiao1 Whoa, seems I missed this! Sorry about that!

linux-wiiu isn't actively being developed right now; we're focusing on a few other projects at the moment. We'll be sure to let you know when new developments come up, though!

Thanks! I actually used wii u linux as my main pc for a week when my old pc broke (this was before the "next" branch) and it worked well with xfce :) just a bit slow, but libreoffice worked which was all I needed at the time.

I'm looking forward to hardware acceleration when we can get KDE going!

Thanks for the update!

I have an Ubuntu box that came with my kiosk, it has a bunch of demos and client updates and I had been discussing how to unlock it in another post. I think I've got access. Is any of this unique and can any of this data be of use to this project?

I suppose that's the proper way to do things on forums heh, forgive my obsessive nickping habits :)

Ironically, speaking of quotes, I mis-read your initial quote, ha! I thought you were replying "You didn't say anything" directly to *me*, rather than Gunstorm, heh :) Sorry about that!

small update for y'all: we've been working away on the rewrite-4.19 branch, which tracks the LTS releases of the kernel - should be supported until Dec 2020.

Right now it supports *most* of the same things the older releases did, except for an attempt at wifi (never worked anyway) and linux-loader's boot.cfg (will be added soon, assuming we don't try something else for a bootloader). There's also a bug that stops USB storage and flash drives from working.

Exciting things include:
- Stable, supported kernel (4.19.60) and not a random -rc
- All USB buses, including the front ports and the internal one the Gamepad is hooked up to (we may have to disable that one)
- Linux actually notices when you hit the power button

This seems very well done; I would like to try it if it won't lock me out of my Wii U. I'm afraid to try Wii U specific homebrew, but if it's confirmed safe, I may give it a go.

After all, the firmware is actually based on Linux, so it makes sense to run Linux on here.

Where did you get that idea from?
Nintendo themselves, as well as other places. Here are a few sources regarding Nintendo Consoles and Linux.

Free Open source Software: https://www.nintendo.co.jp/support/oss/
Switch running BSD: http://nintendotoday.com/nintendo-switch-linux/
Wii U actually uses MULTI, but the game console OS can run and debug embedded Linux: https://ghs.com/products/MULTI_IDE.html
NES Classic runs Linux: https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2016/11/nintendo-nes-classic-single-board-pc-linux
While the Wii uses IOS, it is suspected to have a Linux kernel (check the file structure for clues!): https://www.wiibrew.org/wiki/IOS
