lol Just unboxed the unit and set it up. I am on 1.0.2 E firmware, I guess in the old days the earlier the firmware the better, think now it doesn't apply, the second newest appear to be the best right now.

I haven't put in my Hyrule Warriors disc just yet just for the update, kind of feel like I am ruining it, moment of hesitation.

Need to find couple of old Wii Smash Bros or Lego games for the exploit, otherwise unit isn't much use to me.

Edit: Updated to 4.1.0 E with no internet settings defined

I want to block updates from my router because I have two Wii U, one for online and retail games and one for homebrew. I can block per IP, but it can't block HTTPS or compression. Do I need to block HTTPS?

Took me a few read throughs to understand what I needed to do, but it worked perfectly. Thanks for the handy guide for blocking those pesky updates.

Please Homebrew developers, try to edit the 3ds controler program of the eshop that works in smash brothers, to get work it in all the wii u console.
The finaly is to use the 3ds like it was a gamepad. I lost my gamepad and in my country (south america) there is not Nintendo Oficial support.
On internet is a program to use 3ds on pc, maybe that is more easy to edit to work like a gamepad for the Wii U.

Thanks for your hard work and keep doing, you know how to do a good job and make people happy.

I am now waiting for further news. I had stuff happen which ended up me having TWO white basic Wii U's, another one was a used machine I bought for kinda sorta new gamepad as my old one broke. As luck has it, the Wii U I am not planning on using in any way sits at system version 5.3.2 E so I am softmodding it's Wii menu and waiting for any possible future exploits and hacks since 5.3.2 should be possible to have this.
While still enjoying my legit games online on my main Wii U I am using.

I may or may not be wrong but It MAY be that the gamepad is more powerful than even 3DS itself. Now I am not sure about this, it may be the opposite but what IS true is that the gamepad is a standalone device of it's own with it's own specs and hardware, especially the 5.2ghz radio it uses to transfer sound, input and video at the same time, which I frankly believe 3DS does not have, 3DS and Wii U use local wifi like solution to communicate I am sure.
The idea is nice, but as non-hacker lay person I would assess this to be impossible.

If someone can make a video about how to disable auto-firmware updates that would make it ALOT easier. I'm new to all of this and I don't want my Wii U to update...

So then am a bit confuse and just wanted to confirm my Wii U is currently 5.1.2 and so do I need to be on 5.3.2 or is it 5.3.2 and bellow. also does DNS blocking still work? I have yet to connect to the internet even once as i just gotten the Wii U. If it does need to be up dated to 5.3.2, what game would be best to use for up date. Thanks.

Yes, it works on 5.3.2, and IDK how far backporting would go, may as well just update. Try Mario Party 10 or Splatoon. Also, yeah, just find whatever works for blocking the domains.

I've read many opinions until now and I want to know this for sure: Updating to 5.4 means that I lose the oportunity to run Homebrew on my Wii U if it ever be released? Or I have to wait more for develpment a homebrew 5.4+ version than the 5.3.2 users? ....but can you tell for sure about 5.4+ users?

As of right now, only sub 5.4 firmwares have CONFIRMED homebrew; you can launch and play pong right now. Updating to 5.4 patches the CURRENT exploits used, so you are taking a risk. Nobody knows if a newer exploit will be discovered and/or released.

What do you think :P There's only one _Exit command in coreinit, and if we can jump to it, we can jump to anything, including make a rop chain to set up JIT for userspace.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh I see.
I didn't understand that this exploit was simply calling _Exit(). I thought that it was using and _Exit() function in javascript to gain userspace execution or _Exit() in coreint to gain kernel privelages.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Does this confirm 5.4.0 as safe to update?

Is it piracy if it was released for free? Not in my opinion, but I also think it's not piracy if buying it isn't owning it, and it's not piracy if you can't buy it from the original creators anymore.
