If you want a simple fix, consider sigpatching. Instead of booting into rednand, you run an app which returns you to the home menu, only now you can install any game and run it. Its the same as rednand, only you're installing to your real system menu and you have to run the app every time you start.

Yes you need to run only a sign patched fw.img not the redNAND one. So vWii games only runs from sign patched sysNAND. But you can run these games from vWii instead of from wii u menu. I mean the real wii games.

I suck at searching, and haven't really followed any Wii U hacking related threads ..

So just a quick question: If I hack my Wii U, can I play online with a legit copy of a game or do I have to stay on a lower FW than newest = can't play online? Literally the only game I have on Wii U right now is Mario Maker, and I want to keep playing it .. so can I, if I hack my console?

Latest FW right now is exploitable, so you can play online. If/Once an update is released, you can easily spoof the FW to play online.

Thanks a bunch, will be using this for Smash. But what about just regular Cafiine instead of SDCafiine? To my understanding (and my testing) Mario Kart 8 doesnt work with SDCafiine, only regular Cafiine.

Would you happen to know how to configure it so it will connect to the cafiine server then? When i run it it just returns right to the home menu with the exploit enabled.

No such menu appears, when i press load it just boots right to the wii u menu with the sd mode exploit running.

What do you expect? The thing (IOSU Exploit) is out.

I wasn't paying attention to the Wii U hacking scene the last few months actually... Not sure what the "current big thing" is and so on since the IOSU leak.

The "current big thing" is FAT32 USB support for the Wii U. Read about it here:

After that is done maybe Mocha (or another CFW) becomes as perfect as Luma3DS step by step and beside that the homebrews like RetroArch or HID to VPAD are improving (hopefully). Maybe we get some kind of media player or even a center like KODI.
Nintendont from Wii U mode and launching Wii games from there as well or find a good way to inject into Wii VC would be something. As for Nintendont I don't think it will happen because GX is different from GX2 (Wii U graphics) but maybe there would be some kind of forwarder which launches the vWii with Nintendont and a specific game. Like the Wii VC does. Who knows.
But as I said: These are all things which are discussed in their specific threads.

And to be honest I always hated this thread.
