I didn't understand, does that mean that we will be able to use cafiine to load files from USB?We're beginning to discover the low-level USB interface, and documenting our progress here. As long as Nintendo hasn't done something weird, it should eventually allow for homebrew access to USB devices, like storage.![]()

Great! It is pretty annoying to load files from network.Yeah, that's one of the things it'll accomplish.

Wouldn't it be easier at that point to use something other than cafiine? Or are different modes planned? (USB, Network, SD) I know a rewrite has been mentioned a few times. Just curious because network loading would be much better for debugging/testing. Copying files hundreds of times to make edits is a pita. Wii gave me enough headaches when VC injection was new. Lol

For SD the IOSU exploit needs to be achieved.
That wasn't the question.

Also I read you were on tracks for an IOSU exploit. That's great news!
Yes, definitively, 3DS has better security (and is almost 2 years older than Wii U!)
-hardware key scrambler
-bootrom PROPERLY disabled
-multiple encryption layers
-NX enforced even on the browser
-etc.
Also, the key region on the New 3DS is very strong (and I bet that every future Nintendo console will have a key region like New 3DS one)
The Cafiine rewrite would probably have multiple backends, including external storage (if we get that working in time) or the network.
3DS security is definitely better, but the Wii U browser enforces NX as well. The JIT area is a single exception to that, which still does W^X (either writable or executable, never both at once), and I believe the 3DS has that in its browser too.
Perhaps my informations are outdated.
In fail0verflow conference, they said a special exception for NX was enabled on browser, so ROP wasn't mandatory, we could get directly code execution. Maybe fixed with a firmware update.

Yeah, that's one of the things it'll accomplish.
fail0verflow didn't ever say that. I had that misconception way back in March last year, and comex explained to me what it really meant.
Could (TCP)Gecko dNet also maybe work via USB?

Why would you want that? Wireless is more convenient than cable except if you want slightly better performance.
