Fast question for one of the devs if they aren't busy: are you planning to develop a homebrew loader for the exploit to crash into, or are you just going to lay the groundwork for someone else?

Yes, we're working on a full blown ELF loader. Not sure if it'll be ready by release though.

But USB and network are planned.

The functions needed to send files over network is already *somewhat* there, from what I can see (mostly looking through the RPL file in ida now) it looks like nsysnet is a modification of BSD with a few new names slapped on (namly the SO* prefix, though the normal names works too) and a few new functions.

Welp, after tedious amounts of work, I finally fixed the right channel with its issues. Now both channels sound identical, quality-wise.
Sneaky Nintendo, the entrance of the right channel just had switched values into different positions a little, and then the rest is pretty basic. (Learned that the hard way, unfortunately.) :P

As you noticed, there are pops and crackles while listening to the song. There might be an easy fix, yet again, maybe not, but this is probably as far as I'm getting for now.

Wouldn't it be easier at that point to use something other than cafiine? Or are different modes planned? (USB, Network, SD) I know a rewrite has been mentioned a few times. Just curious because network loading would be much better for debugging/testing. Copying files hundreds of times to make edits is a pita. Wii gave me enough headaches when VC injection was new. Lol
The goal is to get as close to Riivolution as possible, which means loading files off of a storage device and being able to patch files/code. It works, and it works well.
TCPGecko is it's own thing too, it'll probably stay network-based.

Wait, you mean Caffiine is working, or you like how the Riivolution system works?

Both, technically, I was mainly talking about how the Riivo system works. With this, we can do basically the same thing since we patch the call to the main() function so we can start our own files/code before running the game.

Sorry for my first post is a question, but: in july i'm going to Japan, I need to buy a japanese WiiU or can I focus in buy japanese games waiting somehow a region free when all exploit and anything release?

I don't want piracy, but since nintendo apply region lock in your videogames I only want a region free patch LoL

Sorry, you're out of luck until we make an IOSU exploit (which is planned but probably several months off, unless Hykem decides to dive in once we finish the Webkit exploit here in the next few days/week)

I have not idea about technical aspects, so I need to apologize before making this question.

As I understand there are two exploits in the works. The first one is entirely browser based ( and it is the most easy to be released ) and the last one is IOSU that is several months off.

So, for a common person who hesitates to use some custom IOSU for fear of bricking, is it possible to use an exploit via browser only?

I do not give a penny about piracy, I just wait for homebrew for 3 reasons.

- emulators

-region free

- cheats ( not online, but as a completionist, I want some 100% saves!)

Another hypothetical question is this. Let's say that I boot a game. Then I open the browser mid-game and I use the exploit (whatever it is) to simply load some cheats for the game.

Is it possible?

If you wanted to get as close to Riivolution as possible you would need to implement network loading, also selective NAND path emulation.

No problem, thanks for the answer :) In the last case, i'll buy the japanese wiiU, and if we want to use it to test anything about hacking, I use it, and stay my wiiU usa online :)

Pretty much this. That whole post changed from earlier when it said multiple backends. If no network support, I'll just have to make cafiine work better. SD and USB loading are super for the aftermath of testing though.

The coming exploits will mostly be used for game mods and sometimes cheats. An IOSU exploit doesn't mean installing a custom OS on your console, it means access to most of the system's peripherals and dumping keys. If we dump our console specific keys game save sharing can start. As NWPlayer123 said earlier (the post above yours), an IOSU exploit is needed for region free games. Right now the Wii U has TCP Gecko dotnet (vs. USB Gecko dotnet). Something like Gecko OS/ Ocarina (I think that's what it was called) will likely be developed later on.

I put most of those in the IDEA thread along with a bunch of other things, If you have any other cool and unique ideas, you can put them there. Im going to try and organize them by what can be used by what and when to make it a little easier for the public, but that will take some time.

[Quick Update]

Fixed the crackling noises inside custom BFSTMs.
Will probably make a tutorial on how to convert a MP3/BRSTM to a BFSTM the manual way around when the new webkit exploit is released.
I wish I could make a tool that would easily do this, but I sadly do not have much tool-making knowledge, especially for things like this.

Maybe you could talk to a Windows/OS X/Linux dev to do it for you, since I'm sure that there a lot with the knowledge to in the forum somewhere :)
