As far as I'm aware, updates don't patch the boot sequence, and hykem said that given access to the boot sequence, it could start up the back regardless, no? It virtually gives us full access to the system, no? That means the parts which aren't updated. I'll try to find a link where he explains it.Uhmm that's something new to me, as far as I know IOSU is contained within OSv11 which means it's totally updatable, hence patchable
But I'm open to hear your input on backing up that claim ^^.

i used to go out to the recycling center every couple weeks and look at the crts and other electronics people would drop off. Usually screens were broken or severely scratched from being tossed around. Did find a good one here and there, but never anything like a 1080i widescreen crt. -
