We never said that, there are plenty of other bugs to find, either that we make ourselves using the source code nintendo so graciously provides or get lucky and find another usable one already out in the wild.

Because like I said, I'm still on the fence but there's no reason for me to, and yet....ugh...

So I'm just curious, I understand that in theory its possible, but no one has yet done it, but does anyone know if anybody is currently attempting to get the Wii U gamepad to function as a usable controller in the vWii. I can't help but think when I'm in the vWii, how sweet it would be to play any of the emulators and Nintendont with the Wii U gamepad, and with the ability to stream whats happening on the vWii on the gamepad, it would just be so cool, as you'd have a nice little handheld system (that is granted tethered to the console, but would still be of great use for many of us I'm sure).

The trouble is the Gamepad uses WiFi, vWii uses Bluetooth, getting those two to work together is a pain in the ass.

Yes, that is my understanding of the problem, I imagine its no easy task, but I've heard it is possible. So thats where the question comes from, do we know if anyone is attempting to figure it out? I imagine something like that would be a long way from release if it were even being worked on, but I'm just curious to know if anyone has taken it on as a project/challenge.

No idea, I'd love it too, but...still.

You'd have to have IOSU access (not gonna happen anytime soon with this team) and then modify the system files so that vWii boots with everything it needs to run it, therefore defeating the purpose of running Nintendont and emulators in the first place, since you'd have the full power of the Wii U at your disposal once you have an IOSU exploit.

I don't get why people think gamepad in vWii is so good when anything you can do in that disgusting sandbox can be ported and optimized to work on Cafe OS.

And too bad emulators in vWii mode will never be ported to Cafe OS, given the lack of interest and what have you. I see nothing wrong with playing Snes, NES, etc on the game pad.

What's not to get? Sitting in the family room on a Sunday with my buddies, watching some NFL, wanting to play gamecube, NES, SNES, GB/C/A, or PSX games without disrupting the tv or needing to use another controller while looking at the gamepad. Seems pretty obvious why people would want the gamepad to work in the vWii as I'm sure many of us have very similar experiences and desires to match. As I understand it, even though you say otherwise, its possible the Wii U gamepad could be programmed to work with the vWii without the Wii U having been hacked yet. I may be wrong, but this is what I've been told.

So, what I want to know is, even if I do go to 5.2.0, I'm not screwed?

Dude, you've been told multiple times that nothing is so black-and-white until the exploit is ported. Not to be too dickish, but you've been complaining frequently about whether or not you should upgrade, and regardless of what people tell you you don't come to a decision. Pick a side and stick with it, end of story. Because you seem like a lost cause otherwise.

I'd wager there's still a much butter chance that emulators will be ported over to Cafe OS than there is that the game pad will be made to work in vWii mode.

Yes, I realize, what I'm saying is that once you're able to do modify vWii to do so you already have the ability to do the exact same thing much easier using Cafe OS, so why bother at that point. Anything you could do in vWii you could do better running the normal OS.

And no, it's impossible to make it work otherwise because the hardware is literally shut off when you go into vWii mode, that's how the sandbox works.

EDIT: To further prove my point, go watch Fail0verflow's 30C3 presentation, particularly around 53:00

Problem is so far, we don't have any of the vWii homebrew emulators running in Cafe OS, no one knows when those will ported over, much less finding people interested in getting those to run in Cafe OS.

It's possible to generate symbols from most (anything?) things compiled with DevKitPPC/libOGC, so (take this with a grain of salt because IDK how low level it's possible to go) it should be possible to recompile/reconfigure the code to use the dynamic libraries instead of running it all on the bare metal. Sure it's hackish, but in theory it works. At least once we're to the point where it's possible to make decent homebrew (usermode doesn't really cut it, hence why we're working on the kernel exploit)
